There are a number of beaches throughout Mexico, some of which allow canine visitors. For example, there is Playa Zicatela in Puerto Escondido where you and your dog can enjoy the ocean water together. Coral Beach, (also known as Playa Mirador II) in Cancun is Latin America's first pet-friendly beach. Not only does the beach welcome your best pal, it is a Blue Flag Beach, meaning it has very high standards for safety and water quality and offers certain services like wheelchair access and environmental management. In the future, a playground for dogs will be included. Known as a great beach for snorkeling, Playa Santa Maria in Cabo San Lucas is also open to dogs.
Step
1
Choose a beach to visit
If you would like to embark on an outing to the beach with your pup, the first thing you will want to do is decide which beach you will visit. You can do some research online to find out about different beaches in the country, where they are located and whether each beach allows dogs. You can choose which beach or beaches you want to visit, depending on where you are in Mexico and how far you are willing to travel.
Step
2
Pack your beach bag
You will likely want to pack some things to bring with you on your visit to the beach. Start with a few necessities, like your pup's leash, waste bags, water and some treats. From there, you can consider what else to bring based on which beach you will be visiting, how far you will be traveling, how long you plan to stay at the beach and what the weather forecast is like.
Step
3
Enjoy the experience
Upon arriving at the beach, you and your pup will be ready for a good time. Make sure to familiarize yourself with the rules of the beach and whether your dog must remain on their leash while there. You can allow your dog to splash in the water and run in the sand. If your dog does not have to be on their leash, they may enjoy a game of fetch, whether on the beach or in the water. Keep in mind that your dog may need some time to get comfortable with the water, particularly if they have not encountered water often. You and your pup may also enjoy a nice walk on the beach. After plenty of adventure, both you and your dog can take the opportunity to relax on a blanket in the sand....for a nap!

Activity description
Mexico has plenty of dog parks available for you and your pup to visit, each having its own unique features. Free Spirit Dog Park, for example, which is located in Ajijic, Mexico, offers plenty of shade and a water station for pups. The entry is double gated, to ensure the safety of your pup. There is a separate closed area for small and shy dogs to spend time. What makes the park particularly unique is the agility equipment that can be found throughout, which will make a great activity for your pet. Parque de los Perritos, in Guadalajara, is a small dog park, though it provides water bowls for pups, benches for their humans and plenty of shade. Mexico City is home to Parque de los Venados, which includes large fountains, beautiful gardens and a statue of Pancho Villa. Dog obedience classes and pet expos are sometimes held at Parque de los Venados. No matter which park you choose, your pup will have the opportunity to expend some energy and you will have the chance to watch!

Step
1
Read reviews and research
You may encounter dog parks as you are involved in other activities, learn about them by word of mouth, or find information about them online. Where you will decide to go will depend on where you are and how far you are willing to travel, as well as which features of a particular dog park are appealing to you. For example, if you are looking to work on agility activities with your pup, a dog park with agility equipment will be ideal. However you learn about the parks, you can then make a choice regarding which park is the best option for your visit that day.
Step
2
Pack it up
Next, decide what items you need to bring to the dog park and get them together. There are some things that you will need no matter what dog park you visit; a leash, waste bags and treats for example. Some parks have water available and others don't; if you are going to a park that does not have water make sure to bring your own. You may also choose to bring a ball or a Frisbee so that you can engage your pooch in a game of fetch. A sun hat might be helpful for you should you be visiting a park that does not offer much shade.
Step
3
To the dog park!
Once you and your pup are ready, head on over to the dog park. Make sure that you keep your dog on their leash while you enter the dog park to ensure their safety. Once inside, you can let your pooch off leash to run and play. Keep an eye on your dog in case they are a little too friendly or overwhelming towards another dog. Depending on the activities available and other dogs present, you may or may not want to play a game of fetch with your canine buddy; one of the great benefits of the dog park is that you can often sit back, relax, and enjoy watching your special friend have a great time!

Activity description

If you are looking to visit the Yucatan in Mexico, book a stay at the pet-friendly Hacienda Chichen. Located in Chichen Itza, the hotel offers you the chance to spend time exploring and adventuring with your canine companion. The hotel has large gardens and jungle trails for you and your pooch to explore, and your pup can even swim in a rural cenote. Your dog can accompany you as you explore ancient Mayan sites and at the end of the day, the two of you can relax on your room's terrace. First-time visitors with pets must have their dogs on-leash at all times. Your dog can then earn a well-behaved dog certificate, which will allow them to be off leash while on the property at your next visit.

Step
1
Learn the pet policies
To plan for this adventure, you will first want to learn more about Hacienda Chichen and all that it offers, as well as its pet policies to make sure you and your pup can comply. The hacienda has a website that will provide you with plenty of information about the hotel, its policies regarding pets and activities on its grounds and in the area. Doing so will allow for an even more relaxed stay.
Step
2
Meet the pet pre-requirements
When booking your stay at Hacienda Chichen with your pooch, you will need to inform the hotel about the breed, sex, age, weight, size, temper, training level, and more of the pet you plan to bring. Once your reservation is accepted, you will have to make a non-refundable pre-payment and abide by the pet policies and regulations. Keep in mind that if your pup shows disruptive behavior, lack of control or any other behavior that could harm staff, guests or other dogs, you may be asked to leave the property. You will also be required to complete a letter of agreement stating that you are fully liable for your pup's behavior and email it to the property. You will also be required to bring a Health Certificate for your pup as well as a vaccination record if your dog is over three months of age.
Step
3
Enjoy your visit
Upon arrival at Hacienda Chichen, you can present originals of your pup's vaccination record and Health Certificate and copies will be made. Once you check in, you and your pup will be ready to explore! You will find plenty to do and see on the hotel grounds and your pooch will have the opportunity to check out many new smells. The staff of Hacienda Chichen will also be able to direct you to dog-friendly activities in the area. Best of all, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the sights with your best friend at your side!

Check Out Land's End Arch

Located at the southern tip of the Baja peninsula is the Land's End Arch, which is one of the most famous landmarks of Cabo San Lucas. The area is made up of large rock formations that have been carved into shapes by both the sea and the wind. An ideal time to walk is at low tide along Playa del Amante where it is possible to get a good view of an eroded passageway named the Arch of Poseidon. This is also a nice area to spend time with your pup relaxing.

Wine Tasting With Your Furry Friend

If you love wine, you may at times be conflicted; you are interested in attending a wine tasting but don't want to leave your pup at home. Fortunately, you don't have to! Located in the Baja, California region of Mexico, Las Nubes Winery is a dog-friendly place; you can bring your canine companion along while you enjoy a visit to the vineyards and some wine tasting. Wine tastings are offered seven days a week from 11 am to 5 pm; reservations are required on Saturdays. While visiting, you can enjoy a young wine tasting for 150 pesos or a reserve wine tasting for 200 pesos.

Take A Walk

Mexico offers a variety of terrain for you and your canine buddy to explore. You can walk on the beach together, hike on a mountain, explore the jungle on foot or walk in the Sonoran or Chihuahuan desert where you can view many different plant species. Your pup will enjoy the opportunity to take in many different new smells on each of your walking adventures. Make sure to have your dog's leash, waste bags, treats, and plenty of water, as it is important that your dog remain hydrated. With the large land area of the country, you will find plenty of opportunities.

Conclusion

You and your canine companion should have no trouble finding things to do in Mexico, regardless of both of your activity levels. Your options will depend on where you are in the country and how far you are willing to travel, however with so much to do, you can easily find activities close to you and that meet your interests.
