The American Boston Bull Terrier is a new type of dog that was created 10 to 20 years ago by crossbreeding the American Pitbull Terrier and the Boston Terrier. It will have an appearance and temperament similar to both of its parents, and will, therefore, be smart but stubborn. They are excellent with children and are also great watchdogs. They have several potential health risks and can sometimes be hard to train, since they are headstrong. Like most dogs, this breed will need proper socialization, training and to be shown authority as a puppy. They have moderate activity levels and will need regular exercise.

American Boston Bull Terrier Breed History

Since these dogs are a modern breed, coming into existence only 10 to 20 years ago, there is not much documented about how the breed came to be. The American Pitbull Terrier was originally bred for bull fighting, pit fights and other spectator sports. However, as they became popular among other parts of the world, this dog was more often used as farm dogs who would accompany the owners on hunts or had duties as guard dogs and companion pets. Despite their original use in blood sports, these dogs are gentle and courageous. Today there exists another type of dog apart from the American Pitbull Terrier. The American Staffordshire Terrier is a smaller version of this breed and is usually the type that is seen in shows. The other breed used to create the American Boston Bull Terrier is the Boston Terrier. This breed came to be in the late 1800s and was very popular in the United States. In fact, they were one of the first dog breeds that were created in America to be recognized by the American Kennel Club. Up until the 1960s, the Boston Terrier was proudly among the top ten most popular breeds in the United States and is also the official dog of Massachusetts. They are smart but can be stubborn, which are some qualities that are usually passed down to the American Boston Bull Terrier.

American Boston Bull Terrier Breed Appearance

This hybrid breed essentially resembles a larger version of a Boston Terrier. The tails of this breed are usually cropped, but can also be left long and straight. These dogs have compact bodies that are muscular, and ears that are erect and pointy. The American Boston Bull Terrier will appear as a mix between the physical characteristics of the American Pitbull Terrier and the Boston Terrier. The American Pitbull Terrier has a solid and muscular build. Their heads are large but well proportioned and wedge shaped, with slightly wrinkled foreheads. They can be found in almost any color and can also have eyes of any shade, with the exception of blue. Their ears are either semi-pricked or rose shaped, and the tails will be tapered. The second dog breed that makes up the American Boston Bull Terrier is the Boston Terrier. These little dogs will have protruding eyes and broad heads. Their faces resemble that of a Boxer, as they are square shaped and with short muzzles. They have small ears that will be erect and tapered tails that will be set low. Expect your designer dog to have an appearance of somewhere in between these two breeds.

American Boston Bull Terrier Breed Maintenance

To keep these dogs happy and out of trouble, make sure that they get a daily dose of exercise. As long as they get outside enough throughout the day, these dogs can be adaptable to many environments, including apartment life. They will enjoy and do well at many canine sports. For this particular breed, the coat should get brushed once or twice a week. Teeth brushing every day, if possible, will be the best scenario, however once or twice a week will do. Your dog’s nails should get trimmed as necessary, which can vary depending on how much they wear down on their own. Once or twice per month will most likely be appropriate. Wipe out their ears once a week. Although these dogs can be stubborn, they should be fairly easy to train. But they can be sensitive, and therefore you should be cautious with what tone you use when communicating with them. Because of this personality trait, an owner who has had previous experience will most likely be the best fit for this particular type of dog.

American Boston Bull Terrier Activity Requirements

These dogs are known to be excellent with children as they are gentle and calm around them. They can also get along well with other dogs if they are socialized properly. For best results with other animals, they should be brought up together from a young age. The American Boston Bull Terrier makes a great watchdog, and in most cases will also be a pleasure to train. However, they can sometimes have a stubborn streak that may cause some complications. They are alert and make wonderful family pets that will be loving and devoted. This designer breed is cautious, and although you do need to show your dominance and prove to them your authority as pack leader, you should do so firmly but kindly. They are sensitive and will love to please the owner as long as they feel loved in return.

So 16 years ago I bred a Colby American Pit Bull Terrier with Boston Terrier I kept 1 out 3 pups and I even took it another step and bred my American Boston Bull Terrier to Another Apbt and today I have their son Ceasar thats 11 years old I really wanna make this a registered breed so I can make more I believe they are the best companion and guard dog ever!! I love Apbt and my family raised Boston Terriers this combination was great and even better when I added more Apbt! If you like pictures of him I have them! Would love to register this as a breed!!
