Pastimes
Our Daisy has been the most loyal, sweet, intelligent dog I've ever known. She is now 12 1/2 years old and has reached the end of her life. She was very energetic until she reached about 10 or 11. From the first day we took her home, she has faithfully guarded and protected us. She still sits on the steps inside the house and watches out the window for potential uninvited guests. I truly believe she would fight anyone or anything to the death to protect us. Because of this, we were unable to crate her, as she could not do her "job" locked inside a crate. Her primal instincts prompted her to sleep in a corner of the room facing the door since she was a puppy. She also is very unfriendly to visitors, so it's very important to properly socialize this breed. Training her was so easy in every case but one. That girl cannot help herself when it comes to food. She can make your lunch disappear in 1.5 seconds and we've never been able to break her of it. We love her so much, we just learned to work around her sneaky food tricks. There are not enough words to express how much we love her. I would recommend this breed to anyone who has the time and resources to socialize and the energy to keep them properly exercised and are able to raise a dog without the use of a crate.
