Frengle

The best way to find out about the Frengles history is to look at the parent dogs until they have established their own unique history. The French Bulldog originated in England around the 19th Century in the town of Nottingham. The lace makers guild decided they wanted a smaller version of the English Bulldog, one that could be their companion while they worked. In the 1860s with the industrial revolution creating many problems the craftsmen relocated to France, taking their toy or miniature dogs with them. They became very popular in France and were given the name French Bulldog. When the breed made its way back to England for the dog show many years later, the British hotly debated the name, as it was originally from England. But the name ‘French’ Bulldog stuck to the feisty small dog and the name continues to this day. The first Beagles date back to the 1500s where hunters used them in packs to hunt and track rabbits, hare, quail and other small animals. They fell out of favor in the 18th century when the Foxhound became the faster hunting dog and replaced the Beagle. Luckily, farmers continued to breed them and in the 1800s they were imported to the United states of America where they refined the breed by breeding them smaller. The Beagle is a sweet and funny dog but can be quite naughty in a loveable way. They respond well to training and if peoperly socialised, make great family pets. Beagles are known for their excellent detection work at airports, and as therapy dogs.
