If you like small Terriers, then you will love the Mini Scottish Fox Terrier. It is a hybrid mix of the Scottish Terrier and the Mini Fox Terrier. They are both tiny dogs so the Mini Scottish Fox Terrier will not get much bigger than 11 inches tall and should weigh less than 15 pounds. The tiny Terriers have a dense wiry coat that is flat and hard. It may be short like the Fox Terrier or longer like the Scottish Terrier. Their coloring is white with black, brown, or brindle accents although some dogs can also be red or cream. An alert and energetic breed, the Mini Scottish Fox Terrier makes a great watchdog and family pet.

Your Mini Scottish Fox Terrier is a hybrid that has only been around for about 20 years so their history is not well known. However, by looking at the background of the parent breeds, you can get an idea of your dog’s characteristics. The Miniature Fox Terrier is a combination of several different Terriers and the Whippet. Some of the Terriers thought to have been used in developing this breed are the Toy Fox Terrier, Toy Manchester Terrier, British Fox Terrier, and English Toy Terrier. They originated in Australia in the 19^th century and became popular for hunting rats, mice, and snakes. The Miniature Fox Terrier is now a popular family pet and is owned by several celebrities such as Tony Field of the Wiggles and Ian Thorpe, an Olympic athlete. The breed is not recognized by the American Kennel Club but they have been part of the United Kennel Club since 1936. The Scottish Terrier originated in Scotland back in the 17^th century from the West Highland White Terrier, Cairn Terrier, and Skye Terrier. The breed is known for its awesome fox and badger hunting ability and bravery. In fact, they became famous for their part in the battle of the Royal Scots and the group of Terriers was nicknamed Dumbarton's Diehards by George Douglas, the first Earl of Dumbarton. Also, President Franklin D. Roosevelt owned a Scottish Terrier named Fala who got more fan mail than most presidents did. The little Scots were officially recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1885 and they are the 58^th most popular dog breed.

The Mini Scottish Fox Terrier is small and wiry, with dark brown eyes and a black or brown nose on a large, square muzzle. They usually weigh between 5 and 15 pounds and average about 8 to 12 inches high. The length of your dog’s coat depends on the parentage but they typically have short to medium length wiry fur that is white with black, brown, white, brindle, or red accents. They may have a beard like the Scottish Terrier, they have short legs, and a long tail that usually stands up straight when it is not wagging.

The coat of your Mini Scottish Fox Terrier must be stripped every 8 to 10 weeks to get rid of the dead hair. This can be done with a stripping blade or by hand. They must also be brushed with a slicker brush at least once a week to keep them from shedding and improve circulation for healthy skin. Your Mini Scottish Fox Terrier is an excellent and brave watchdog that will protect you and your family from whatever they see as a threat. She is happy and energetic with a lot of spirit and feistiness and will make you laugh with her antics. Training must be rigid and strict so she knows she is not the boss because these little dogs are susceptible to the Napoleon Complex. They should be socialized as a puppy so they are comfortable around pets and children. They are very intelligent though and can learn anything you want to teach them. The Mini Scottish Fox Terrier is good with children but you need to supervise them carefully.

These little Terriers are full of energy and need at least one to one and a half hours of vigorous exercise every day to keep them from getting anxious. Dogs that do not get enough exercise usually end up with behavioral problems like barking at everything or nothing, chewing on your belongings, and even aggression. Question - My pet

Question

On Christmas I found and rescued what I thought was a puppy but by the looks of her teeth, She has to be between 12mos -24mos. She is tiny & although her teeth are small, she doesnt seem to have any missing teeth. However, she has gaps that look like space for her teeth to grow(Im guessing). But my concern is her Really horrible bad breath & what seems to be a mite infestation around her eyes. I researched her breed & found out shes a Scotchi crossbreed. I named her Lucky'La Little Kilgore. What could be causing the bad breath. Im thinking its the mites or whatever is causing her eye irritation
