Murphy is friendly to other adults and children but when it comes to me the owner he starts to bark at me grab my clothes and pull show teeth and growl other times calm

Love him to death. Not as trainable as a golden retriever but loves to run in the woods. People friendly. Fast runner. Loyal friend.

He is the best dog, he listens well to my command. There’s something I need to train him such as potty and poop outside but everything else he is good. I am proud of him to have him my life. She is sweet and smart. Had terrible worms when we got her, but working through it all. We were told pup was older than she actually is. Her coat is getting shiny as the worms die off. Big difference in her in only three weeks.

She recently climbed the back yard fence and onto the roof of the neighbors garage. That’s where I found her.

She is the best... so affectionate. She loves attention! We have 2 other retriever dogs that she gets along great with. She loves getting the ball first and playing keep away from the other 2 dogs that try to get the ball from her to bring back to me. She loves chasing our cats.

Simba is an amazing dog, he loves with his entire heart, he’s a scaredy-cat but will alert you right away when he hears something. He’s difficult to train, very stubborn, but he understands more everyday. Very loyal, great with a house cat

Adopted from local humane society, she is extremely protective of me. Does not like anyone but Dad closer than twenty/thirty feet of me. Working n that, but slow going! I love her dearly, end of story!

Very fast learning, however, struggles in new environments. Takes awhile to get over his fears. He is still scared of slippery floors. Not a big cuddler, but wants to be close to you.

She is loyal, affectionate and sweet to her family. She is friendly to a point. Energetic, playful, obedient, listens, loving, and smart! Sadie is a rescue, and an addition to her family. She will adapt to her environment and will follow in the footsteps of an older dog in the house.

Energy level is increasing. Very loving and fun dog. Learns fast. Loves kids and other dogs. Loves to RUN! But will sleep for a day and a half after a solid day of activity.

Great dog for my family. Dont trust him off the leash. He disappeared after 2 deer into the woods and was missing for 3 hours but he came back!

We got Boscoe from the pound and had his DNA tested through Wisdom Panel. The results showed that he was 50% Golden Retriever, 12.5% German Shepard, 12.5% Belgian Malinois, and 25 % Vizsla (with a question mark) which means that traces of Vizsla were found but unidentifiable. Boscoe looks EXACTLY like the dog in the Home Page of this site and shows all the characteristics listed for the Tennessee Brindle. I am beginning to think that that is the dominant breed in Boscoe. He's a HOOT!

Lots of energy...likes to play rough with other dogs, he usually finds a dog and wrestles with them the whole time at the park...friendly towards people he knows, but not to strangers...likes to cuddle when he’s in a certain mood...typically very sweet but can be seen as aggressive when too excited...as long as he gets enough excercose he’s fine when left in the apartment during the day...

Rescued Connor at 18 months where he spent most of his puppy life in a crate and short chain outside. Immediately got along with our pit bull, Molly. Very curious, agile and loves to go on hikes in the bush. Need to keep a shock collar on him when deer are active as he’ll chase deer for days. Strong prey drive but only to alert us (does not try and kill our neighbourhood squirrels!). Definitely needs 1-2 hours of intense activity per day. Loves routine. He growls at some strangers but warms up to them if they ignore him. Otherwise he’s an amazing dog, loyal, brave, goofy and loving!

We adopted Collin from the human society as a rescue from Alabama when he came up north from flooding. They told us he was a Labrador/ Retriever mix but he looks exactly like the dog in that picture. He is the sweetest little boy and he loves to cuddle us! (He actually sleeps in between my boyfriend and I all night long) We are working on training with him because he doesn’t know any commands or cues, even though he is a very well mannered pup. He LOVES to run. His barks sound so mean and vicious but he only wants to lick and smell you. He is amazing at letting me know if people are in the hallway 3 doors down even. He barks for a few minutes then stops once the noise is gone or we ignore him.

He is great, after 2 days of training he is already responding to cues and commands. He is amazingly smart. He is great with my 3 year old, very loving and affectionate. I already trust him with her, but he still needs to learn to control his excitement. It seems after a long walk near/through the woods he is calm for the rest of the day. He and the rest of his litter are some of the sweetest and most beautiful dogs I've ever seen. I'd recommend one for and family.

Adopted Walter, advertised as hound and pitbull mix. He seems to be exactly TTB. He is very affectionate and sleeps as close as you'll let him. Loves being a watch dog and gives out a deep, scary bark when spotting animals or people. Great for us in a rural area where we don't get many visitors; problematic for an apartment situation. Needs daily exercise. We do ball toss 30 min nonstop in the morning and again in the evening. Still has plenty of energy to wrestle our senior dog in between. Sleeps soundly in his crate for 5 hours while we're at work. Smart dog. Learned commands and routines quickly. Not stubborn like my other dog. Strong desire to please his owners. Food driven. Walter loves other dogs. Takes 15 minutes for him to warm up to people he doesn't know. Barks at them first, which is offputting. Working on training to get him to stop that. Overall, a great companion.

My TTB is THE sweetest friendliest baby ive ever had. If i feel sleeping all day hes right there with me the whole time cuddling or if i feel like an all day hike he is up for that with high energy and hes very curious. Best breed EVER!

She's a sweet natured dog. She loves trying to catch squirrels in our back yard. She is very fearful of many household items, especially balloons. She's not a cuddler but is very loyal and always sticks close by to family. She is jealous of our older golden retriever but always is mimicking her. Her fears have gotten to the point where we may have to get her anxiety medication.

Ours tends to be a stubborn dog. She gets along great with our other dogs and the cat. She is a bit lazy, but that may be due to her upbringing before she became part of our family. She is a great dog who loves to cuddle at night and steal your spot when you get up. She is a picky eater, but eats well when she finds something she likes.

I adopted him from a local Animal Rescue League, around 4 yrs at the time of adoption. He has been the best dog I have ever had. He is very affectionate to everyone and other dogs or cats. He only barks at squirrels and is very fast and have caught many in his lifetime. He is now 11, but still seems to be quite alert and mobile.

My pup showed up 10 years ago at about 6 weeks old probably. He and 2 others were dumped behind my house. He was a sweet stubborn puppy but once dominance was established that diminished..until old age.. we raised him to be able to deal with any rough housing from future children encounters and he is the most loyal loving animal I've ever encountered. Only sounds when we need alerted. Most loving big baby ever in the house, do not approach if hes on a chain and doesn't know you or I'm home with the kids and my husband isn't home. Best judge of character. If someone new is in our home he will sit at their feet or between our family and said new person as if to act as a barrier. He is still a puppy at heart and has his lively spurts. Unfortunately he is getting up there in age and has to sit out on hunting trips. Takes to long to recoup from a trip out. Most unique hunting dog. He will tree. But he also prefers to actually stand further back and look in the tree vs just relying on smell. Quite amusing to watch him. I have been blessed to have this amazing pup be my first baby and protector of my children. He sleeps with my son who is almost 8 and my daughter who is 3. They feel "safe" knowing hes next them. Best animal breed hands down.

I have 4 pups that were dumped on my road, in very poor health. They are now all healthy and happy. Would love to find them homes, they look and act so much like I have just read about the TTH. I wouldn't mind keeping one of them but that choice would be very difficult.

I rescued Morty when he was 1 1/2 years old. He was abandoned during a flood in Tennessee. The place where I got him didn't know what he was, but I looked through every dog breed and this fits him perfectly. Hes mostly black with orange brindle on his legs, cheeks, and ears, with white on his chest and on the tip of his one foot. Hes very smart and learns quickly, but also seems to get bored very easily. I cant teach him for too long until he just wants to play. He definitely needs at least on hour of hard exercise, he loves to sprint, but when we get home he just passes out for a couple hours. Also keeping him off leash is a gamble. Hes really good most of the time off leash, but he does have a very strong prey drive and will run off when he sees something, but is very good at coming back to me now after a few minutes of chasing. Hes good with my cat but does like herd him around the house. Hes also pretty good at being quiet but does bark when he sees people passing close by the house, when he needs to potty, and also when we’re late getting to bed. He likes a routine and will bark at you when your late to do something. Hes very friendly towards other dogs and people in public. Hes never gotten aggressive with another dog even when the other dog clearly wants to eat him. He barks and growls at people that come over the house until he deems them a non threat, and then hes very freindly. Hes very sensitive to when you get mad, so he does respond greatly to positive reinforcement rather then negative. He is a really great dog, very loyal and follows me everywhere. He also cuddles with me at night which is the cutest thing ever. 11/10 recommended

Great companion, quiet and peaceful

We got Clem about 2 weeks ago from a local shelter. She had been rescued from a hoarding situation. At first she was afraid of us but warmed up very quickly and now is extremely loving and affectionate. They told us she was a Catahoula cur mix, but after stumbling upon TTB, it's TOTALLY her. We just sent in a DNA test that we won't get back for a few weeks, but I'm 100% convinced she's a TTB. She looks exactly like the breed pictures and she acts exactly like the descriptions in these comments. SUPER smart, jumps from toy to toy, gets into everything, but as sweet as can be. Also wary of new people coming to the house but warms up quickly. We adore her!

Roxi, is super athletic very fast, trees squirrels daily has rumbled with ground hogs, chases deer and fox, and even treed a huge ground hog, climbs trees, is very aware of surroundings and dangerous circumstances. We leave her food in dish will not over eat, chews her treats not gulps, flat out awesome dog! Stores treat for later consumption.

We got her from the dog pound so her age is a guesstimate. She's friendly and sweet to people and some dogs. She is trying hard to get the start car that lives under a neighbor's car. She was heartbroken when we got her and will sit but no other commands. She is affectionate and loved her alpha dog (my husband) best. I am I'll and she is more gentle with me. She is a great companion.

The sweetest pup we've ever had. Wants to be beside you at all times. Loves to go outside to run and play. Hates water! Aggressive towards some dogs, friendly towards all people! Loves to bark at anything going by the house.

Great Dog, though he does tend to have a bit higher anxiety when not with a family member. Does well with other dogs. He's a bit of a talker if he isn't allowed to be in the same room as his family members.

We found he around the apartment, i think he was abandoned. He's really loving and likes to be around us all the time, sometimes he cries when i go out. He has a lot of energy and is a very obedient dog, but hates to bath.

We've only had her for 2 days now. Adopted this sweet girl and she is very intelligent and full of energy. We will be working with her on listening when called as she seems a bit stubborn. This could be due to the change of surroundings and different people.

I live right on the other side of the Hudson from Manhattan and somehow wound up with a TTH. She was brought up to a local shelter from Tennessee and I fell in love with her the moment I saw her. She is AMAZING! Super affectionate, major cuddler, good with everyone and other dogs. I know this says they aren't suitable for apartments but she does well. She is actually pretty quiet unless we start playing hard in the house. She gets about 3 hours of walking a day with occasional dog park visits to really run it out. We also head out to the mountains or trails in NJ and do some hiking and head to the beach. So, I think they are perfectly fine for an apartment as long as the get the excercise they need.

Lucy is the best dog I’ve ever owned. She adapts well to new environments as long as she has her people. She likes routine, is loyal, easily trainable, sensitive, fun, affectionate, gentle, sweet, and playful. She does well as a ranch dog around livestock, keeps away raccoons and critters, and is always trustworthy around children, babies, and other animals. She is amazing!

Easton is our first dog ever and when we rescued him we had never heard of the breed before. He is the most amazing dog!! We couldn’t have gotten luckier. He is very smart, train him on something in an hour and he’ll know it forever. Never barks, loves people, other dogs and our two cats. He loves to run and be chased by other dogs and is super fast! Listens so well and cuddles with us. He’s just the best dog ever!! He loves to rough house with his owners but does tend to nip if we get too aggressive. He’s a grazer with food, eats a little at a time throughout the day.

I adopted her from a local rescue when she was 2 months. She was found in a ditch in Mississippi with her siblings and mom. She learns most commands quickly, except how to walk on leash, she continues to pull. She loves running with other dogs at the dog park and chasing squirrels. I had her DNA done and it came back mostly American Staffordshire, but after doing some research this breed is her to a T! She loves toys that squeak and playing tug of war. She sleeps under the covers next to me. Hates baths. Steals my seat when I leave the room. She is difficult in the car. Trying to eat the cars and usually gets excited andpeed, so I had to put a sling in the back seat so u can take it out to clean easily. She is a very good dog. Wary of strangers but warms up after a bit. Loves to chase my cat around.

Rescued Brynn from a shelter, fell in love, discovered her breed and will do DNA testing, as she is a perfect example of this breed and has not been spay yet.

Though stubborn and very smart, I absolutely love my Tennessee brindle. He has a great voice and the cutest howl. Unfortunately, Fig had a rough start to life and is extremely leash reactive but we work with him every day to ensure he is happy and healthy.

She’s an amazing girl, she listens to everything I say, her eyes are almost human like, she got trained to be how I like her.

Jackson came to Boston from Tennessee at 4 months old as a shelter pup, originally identified as a lab/boxer. After reading this I’m 100% positive this is the true breed of my dog- but a DNA test is in our future. He’s beyond smart, easiest little guy to train. Takes about 1-2 days for a command to stick. We’ve been together for over a month now and he knows sit, down, up, off, paw, other pay, stay, leave it, drop it, come here, wipe your feet, as well as a simple “no”….more training to come. However because he is SO FAST I’m not sure if off leash training is in our future unless a shock collar is involved. Once he catches a smell- he takes off. Does amazing in dog parks, with strangers, and kids. Has terrible motion sickness and throws up every time he’s in the car. (Sad). But getting a prescription from the vet next week. Otherwise is the sweetest boy who loves to cuddle and loves belly scratches allll day. While 1-2 hours of walking or play dates is needed, he is content hanging in my apartment snuggling all day. I LOVE HIM!!

he is a very energetic and loving dog. to me he is a perfect dog because he is family and guard dog. he is good with kids and is protective towards them. he can also guard you house from wild animals like snakes and monitor lizards. there once was a cobra in my house and he killed it and was completely fine the next day.

Exceptionally smart, courageous, extremely loyal, are not interested really in other dogs but playful and friendly with them. Prefers looking up at trees for squirrels.

Rescued at approx 1 year off the street of Manhattan. She’s developed some dog to dog aggression.

Like other people who have found their dogs, we do not know really what she is, but she looks exactly like TTB pictures and acts exactly like the descriptions. Wouldn't trade Autumn for the world. So lucky that we were the ones to find her!

Only on 3rd day with me, she super sweet, playful, has Hardly barked, quickly learning boundaries with resident Diablo (cat) and has the kindest character.
