Wire Hair Snauzer

As with all designer dogs, the keys to understanding the Wire Hair Snauzer lies in uncovering the secrets of its parents, the Wire Fox Terrier and the Miniature Schnauzer. First and foremost, Wire Fox Terriers were born to hunt. Hailing from 19th century England, the Wire Fox Terrier gained traction as a loyal and consummate hunting partner who helped their masters take down vermin and foxes. Their fealty to their masters was exemplified when a Wire Fox Terrier by the name of Charles stayed by his master's side and walked alongside his casket during his funeral procession. Though the Wire Hair Snauzer is much younger than the Wire Fox Terrier, it too is starting to gain a reputation for being a very loyal and personable breed. On the other end of the Wire Hair Snauzer's genetic coin rests the Miniature Schnauzer, a breed known for its distinct capabilities as a rat catcher. Miniature Schnauzers are very brave and courageous dogs but that has also led to select  members of their number developing pugnacious tendencies. Accepted into the American Kennel Club, the Miniature Schnauzer became quite popular after World War I, where owners learned that its pugnacious disposition could be tempered with proper socialization. Wire Hair Snauzers, like many smaller dogs, are predisposed, somewhat, to develop pugnacious tendencies, but if properly reared, the Wire Hair Snauzer can become a grand addition to any family. Though this hybrid has likely only been around since the late 1990's or early 2000's, this canine's unique pedigree has it poised to stand out amidst the designer dog crowd.
