Woodle

The Woodle combines the positive characteristics of both of its parent breeds. The Welsh Terrier originated in Wales. The earliest description of the breed can be traced back to 1450. He was a direct descendant of the Black and Tan Rough Terrier. During the 1700s and 1800s, the breed became very popularly throughout Britain. The canines were often used to hunt otter, fox, and badger. The Welsh Terrier is well known for his exceptional courage The breed will easily go to ground to aggressively hunt. In 1885, the breed was imported in the United States. During the same year, the American Kennel Club recognized the breed and the two imports competed in the AKC’s Miscellaneous Class. The Poodle is believed to have originated in Germany. It has a long history that was firmly established when renowned German artist Albrecht Düre portrayed the dog in his paintings during the 15th and 16th century.  During the 18th century, the curly-haired pooch was widely kept as a pet dog throughout Spain. Toy Poodles became the pampered pets of rich French aristocrats. The dogs would often have their hair clipped and dyed to compliment that of their owners' hairdos. There are three size variants of the Poodle which accounts for the various sizes of Woodles. The large Standard Poodle was often used as a gun dog and retriever. In 1887, the breed was officially recognized by the American Kennel Club and entered into the Non-Sporting Group. The Poodle has the distinction of being the second most intelligent dog breed. He bestows his intelligence onto the Woodle to create a wonderfully well-rounded dog.
