Your dog must be registered to play here, and you'll need to bring plenty of waste bags to help keep the beach clean. Keep in mind that this off-leash beach park isn't fully fenced, so be sure to keep a close eye on your wily woofer. Note that dogs, even those wearing a leash, are not allowed on the people side of the beach.

Evergreen Park City Limits
The small city of Evergreen Park does big things for its dogs. The city reopened its newly designed Happy Bark Dog Bark in summer of 2017. This top-notch dog park is located within the 50-acre park at 91st Street and California Avenue. It features three fully enclosed grassy areas. There are sections for large and small dogs, and a section with obstacle course equipment suitable for training. This dog park is accessible by permit only. A FOB key is issued with each registration. You should also be aware that there’s a waiting list for nonresidents. That must mean it’s a pretty pawesome park! But don’t worry, the rest of the 50-acre park is open to the public. Many people picnic there with their pups and take advantages of the many walking paths and open spaces. Dogs must be on-leash, though, when outside of the dog park.

Oak Brook
Oak Brook is twenty miles west of Evergreen Park, but the drive is worth it for a visit to Mayslake Forest Preserve Dog Park. This dog park provides a large, fully fenced area for dogs to strip themselves of a leash and run leash-free. The surface of the dog park is mostly grass with areas covered in mulch. Human companions have sheltered places to sit and watch their pups. Oakbrook offers some food for the hungry person with a dog, too. The Grille serves up burgers and an assortment of tasty dishes. Dogs are welcome to stay with their people seated in the outdoor patio tables.

Homer Glen
Homer Glen is seventeen miles south of Evergreen Park. Messenger Marsh Dog Park is located within the larger Messenger Marsh Park at S Bell Rd. and 159th Street. This dog park has 5 acres of mostly natural terrain for dogs to run leash-free. An acre is also set aside and is separately fenced for the smaller dogs. The entrance to the dog park is white gravel, but it quickly gives way to grass and brush. Small trails lead through the natural grass and weeds. Human companions have covered places to sit while their pups play. Water is available on-site, and doggie waste bags are supplied. A permit is required to use this dog park. The rest of the main park gives dog and person many opportunities for scenic on-leash walks.

Tinley Park
Tinley Park is eighteen miles south of Evergreen Park. It has places and things for you and your pup to do. Bremen Grove Off Leash Area gives dogs a fully fenced area to run leash-free for awhile. A separate fenced area is set aside for the smaller dogs. The off-leash area is part of a nature preserve, making it the pawfect place for Fido to stretch his legs and explore. Water isn’t available on-site, so you’ll need to bring some. Human companions have limited seating. Use of the area is by permit only. After a long day of playing in the park, enjoy a meal at any of Tinley Park’s dog-friendly restaurants. Bostons has dog-friendly outdoor patio dining and serves up casual bar fare. Tag along to their weekly Yappy Hour; a portion of the proceeds raised are sent to the local animal shelter.
