E Michigan Ave

Located on E Michigan Ave, Ketchum Park provides mature trees where you can walk with your pup and relax in the shade. The bridge over Rice Creek is fun to cross over and leads to a second play area. Your pooch will enjoy sniffing the plants and rolling in the grass or chasing butterflies in the garden. Walking trails will help you and the kids get some exercise, and there is a large playground. You can plan a picnic at the pavilion and invite your friends and their furry pals to join you for burgers and hot dogs.

City Center

One of the best spots in Marshall is the Brooks Nature Area on Stuart Lake Road. There are both open prairie and wooded trails where you and your pup can hike and watch the wildlife. You will need to keep your pooch on a leash and if you walk through the entire area it’s about five miles total. Bring some doggie waste bags, water bottles, and tick and bug spray if you are planning a trip through the area in the summer time. Both you and Fido will enjoy admiring the plants and 300-year-old trees as you get some exercise and fresh air.

East Marshall

In East Marshall, families can have fun with their furry pals at Stuart’s Landing on the Kalamazoo River. The park features a band shell for concerts in town and is also a perfect starting point for the Marshall Riverwalk. You and Fido can stroll along the river and may see turtles and deer. If you walk the entire trail, it is about three-quarters of a mile. Be sure to keep your pup on a leash. After getting some exercise, head over to the Dark Horse Brewing Company. The Pub offers craft beers and is very pup-friendly. There is a separate entrance where you and Fido can sit on the patio and the staff will love giving attention to your pooch.

North Marshall

Travelers looking for a pup-friendly place to stay in Marshall will love the Hampton Inn on Sam Hill Drive. Pups are welcome in any room and the staff can answer any of your questions. There is plenty of grass near the hotel to walk Fido, and the Inn is just off the highway. If your pup really needs to stretch his legs, Cook Park is less than a mile from the Inn. You can walk with your pup over to the open field and let him run around and sniff the grass. Pups need to stay on a leash and you will need to pack your own water bottles and doggie waste bags.

Wattles Park

Just nine miles west of Marshall, the Ott Biological Preserve Trail is in Battle Creek and offers a 3.3-mile trail. The walking path is perfect for all skill levels, and you will need to keep your pup on a leash. The peaceful area is perfect for an outing with the kids and your furry family members, and you can even access the North County Trail and Calhoun County Trail if you are feeling energetic. The paths travel along the lake and Fido will enjoy sniffing the plants and even getting his feet wet! There is only one bench about halfway along the trail if you need to rest, and no bathrooms are available, so be sure to bring your own doggie waste bags and water bottles for a cold drink.
