Washington Park is a centerpiece of Central Avenue. This large park is a multi-use dream. There are paths for walking, courts for sports, and playgrounds for kids. There’s also a hidden gem in Washington Park. One of the large, unfenced fields is recognized as an off-leash dog park! Walk deep into the park and you can find half a dozen dogs playing on an average day. Because the area isn’t fenced and the park is popular, it’s not a great place for shy dogs. If you want to burn some energy, head to Woodlark Park in Pine Hills. This small, residential park allows leashed dogs onto the grassy areas and paths. Nearby Junior’s offers solid American grilled and fried sandwiches and apps, and has outdoor seating for small dogs and their dining companions. Big dogs can head over to Capital City Gastropub.
