Middle Island Dog Park offers four acres of off-leash fun for your pup. You will need to organise a ‘pooch pass’ from the Town of Brookhaven, but it is now free, just bring proof of vaccinations and vet checks. There are two separate fenced areas here, one for little pups and one for the bigger guys. Water is available on-site, and there are benches and trees for you to chill out under while your buddy has a fantastic time playing with his new friends. After your play at the park, take your dog over the road to check out Artist Lake.

Rocky Point
In the north of Middle Island is Rocky Point, where there is a great dog-friendly
trail to check out. The main Rocky Point Trail is just over six miles long, so go
prepared! Comfortable shoes, water and snacks will be needed, but your pup will
love the on-lead stroll through the picturesque woodland with you. If that is a
little too long, there are many other trails within this network, so you can
mix and match to find the perfect walk for you both. After your big walk, head
to Deks American Resturaunt and Taproom, where your tuckered out pup can relax by
your side while you enjoy a meal at one of the outdoor tables.

Wading River
In nearby Calverton, you will find the Isaac Dog Park. There are separate fenced areas for the big dogs and little dogs to run off-leash, as well as plenty of shade and benches to enjoy. You will need to bring your own water here, as well as clean up bags. Walking trails surround the dog park, where you and your pup can take a stroll together (back on the lead). If you are hungry after your activity, the Greek Island Diner is the pup-friendly place to go. Calverton Town Centre
In the nearby town of Calverton is the Murphy County Park Trail, where you are welcome to take your
dog for a visit on-leash and enjoy some time out in nature. The 3.5 mile track
is an easy walk, taking you through bushland and around Jones Pond, but there
are other trails you can also explore as well. You will need to stick to the paths, as
there is an impressive concentration of rare plants found here. Take water for
you both, snacks and clean up bags. It is also advised to pack insect repellent
in the warmer months, as the locals can get pretty friendly!
