Description

Mission Dolores Park is the heart and soul of San Francisco’s Mission district. It features two large off-leash dog play areas where you and your dog can mix and mingle with other fascinating and friendly people and dogs. People from the surrounding neighborhoods and districts flock to the 16-acre park in droves, making this one of the most popular parks in the city.

The two off-leash dog play areas are separated by a large walkway—an extension of 19th Street—that separates the park itself into two major areas. On the south side, wide grassy slopes and a few sparse palm trees offer a place to lay back on an incline and picnic. On the north side, a flatter, less populated play area surrounds a soccer pitch.

Several designated sports areas, including tennis courts and basketball courts, require dogs to go on-leash. The same is true for the children’s playground, a sprawling jungle gym at the park’s southeast corner. There are plenty of water fountains and a centrally located restroom, with numerous benches and places to sit down in the shade. All in all, this park is one of the most accessible and pleasant places to bring your dog and enjoy the day.

Mission Dolores Park is a public park, and it seems that almost everyone in the local area is a frequent visitor. You can expect to share the park with plenty of other dog owners, families, large groups, sunbathers, and couples. Poop bags are provided by the park, although it is always a good idea to have your own on hand. If you go on a particularly nice day, expect major crowds and many new friends for your dog to meet.

If you live in the area, Mission Dolores Park should be your mainstay for off-leash fun and relaxation. If you are visiting, the park is the perfect, centrally-located spot for an afternoon or evening in the Mission district.
Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.

This is my absolute favorite park in the city. It's no big surprise that grassy areas are hard to come by in SF! We are in a city, and constantly fighting a drought after all.. So Dolores Park is somewhat of an oasis here, conveniently in the heart of the city. Plenty of green for Snoopy to pee on! It's a great atmosphere as well. Love it!!

We love Dolo, and so does Peanut! There's so much grass, they have strict rules against glass in the area, and overall it's a wonderful place to hangout together. If you're going for the day, make sure you bring bags to clean up after your dog! The grass area has a lot of people hanging out, so be respectful.

Yuki loves hanging out at dolo on sunny days in the city! We normally just bring some food and hangout on a blanket for the day. The off leash area is so convenient, there's a lot of grassy areas, and Yuki gets to make a lot of new friends!
