Hamlin Dog Park in Chicago's Bricktown neighborhood is a pupular destination for fur babies! The L-shaped  pupper playground sits in a corner of the city's larger Hamlin Park and travels along two sides of the park's tennis courts. 

While most of Hamlin Park is dedicated to human sports fun, the dog-friendly area is where the canine action is! Pups of all shapes and sizes have a ton of space for zooming and wrestling. The gravel surface is easy on footpads, and there are "sandboxes," with tree stumps for pooches to sit on. Many trees along the fence offer cool shade above the human benches.  

It's a good idea for pet parents to bring water and a bowl to keep your pooch and yourself well-hydrated because, though a fountain is nearby, it's outside the security fence. The city provides waste bags and receptacles to help parents remember to scoop the poop and keep the dog park clean and smelling sweet.

Canine visitors to Hamlin Dog Park need to be registered by the city, or a permit issued by a participating veterinarian at a cost of $5. The permit ensures all pup parents that every dog is healthy and fully vaccinated. Responsible dogs will wear their permit tags and license, while their parent needs to bring the paper permit with them. Police in this neighborhood do check the puppy playground to ensure everyone is registered.

Parking is available on the streets just outside the dog park in a quiet residential neighborhood where loud and persistent barking is discouraged. When it's time for Fido to cool down after their romping good time, a leisurely stroll on-leash on the nearby Hamlin Park Trail will hit the spot!
