Description

They say that everything is bigger in Texas, and if Wagging Tail Dog Park in Dallas is any indication, they may have a point. Wagging Tail Dog Park is the first dog park designed by the city of Dallas, and they did a heck of a job. The park, which was built in 2009 is nearly seven manicured acres.

The park is next to White Creek, which runs through suburban and urban Dallas, eventually ending in White Rock Lake. Wagging Tail Dog Park overlooks a small waterfall on White Creek. There is a flagstone observation deck over the falls and paved trails throughout the park, as well as picnic tables and grills.

Your dog is welcome on the observation deck and in the picnic area, provided that it is leashed. Once you reach the fenced-in area, however, your dog can enjoy some off-leash freedom! The park is generously sized at almost 7-acres. The park is divided into two sections, with one reserved for small dogs weighing less than 35 pounds.

The fencing is wrought iron, with narrow slats to keep in the little escape artists. Both the small section and the large section are covered in soft grass for the doggos to tear around on. There are benches throughout both sides of the park where pet parents can kick back and watch the playtime.

Nicely shaded areas provide some relief from the sun. You should be aware that there aren't any benches in the shaded areas, so plan accordingly to prevent your dog from overheating. There are drinking fountains for people and puppies so all can stay hydrated in the dog days of summer.

The city of Dallas takes a lot of pride in Wagging Tail Dog Park, and maintains the park meticulously, including the landscaping. The park is closed on Mondays to allow for thorough maintenance. The park has waste bags in both sections, but you may want to pack extra bags to scoop the poop because the park is very pawpular.

Wagging Tail is a grrrreat place to spend an afternoon with your furry best pal!

New adventures are exciting, but they can sometimes result in an injury. Before visiting Wagging Tail Dog Park, compare pet health insurance plans to keep your fur-child in the best “pawssible” shape for all your outdoor adventures!
