Arkansas Dog Names

A Basset Hound named Moose owns his own Facebook page (with the assistance of his owner, Jess).  His page has over 2,500 "likes," with the same amount of followers. Moose has a luxurious life now. However, his owner, who describes herself as a "weird artist chick" adopted Moose from Hounds Haven Basset Rescue located in Des Moines, Iowa. While little is known about Moose's life before Jess adopted him, we do know that Jess often includes him in her artistry, which she and Moose share via his Facebook page. Moose will soon be the subject of a children's book, aptly titled Moose the Dog. Moose also has a Basset Hound brother named Floyd, a senior Basset whom Jess fostered, then later adopted. Moose and Floyd enjoy spending time together, playing in the snow, and dressing up on occasion. Jess uses Moose's popularity on Facebook to help raise money for the Hounds Haven rescue. 

Another dog whose name ("Moose") does not quite fit him is the Jack Russell Terrier who played Martin Crane's dog Eddie on the television series Frasier. Moose also played the part of Old Skip in the film My Dog Skip.  It is likely that Moose earned his name on the day he was born. He was the last puppy born, but he was also the largest. Moose was always a mischievous pup - he refused to be housebroken, constantly dug and chewed on improper items, climbed trees and barked incessantly. Moose's original owner sent him to trainer Mathilde DeCagny, and Moose's life as a star was set in stone. While he might have been too rambunctious for his original pet parent, after six months, Moose won the role of Eddie (Frasier). He held this role for several years. Moose was also the subject of several magazine covers and a book.
