Out of the eight dogs in the gang, two are Bedlington Terriers and are heavily featured throughout the documentary.

Napoli Dogs gained significant success around Europe and picked up several awards. In the 2008 EcoVision Film Festival held in Palermo, the documentary was chosen by the audience as the most popular film. It also received an award at the 2007 Festival Internazionale Del Cinema di Salerno for the “Sezione Informativi” category.

While Bedlington Terriers remain an oddity in some pop culture works, the breed has gained some recognition through social media. Thanks to a viral video, Barry the Bedlington Terrier became an overnight internet star. Owned by couple Wayne Sowerby and Kate Hayllar, Barry’s video of him riding a bicycle in the countryside went viral all over social media and has been a huge source of entertainment for millions of social media users.
