Holt and Kevin's beloved Pembroke Welsh Corgi is a smart girl named Cheddar. She's shown up in quite a lot of episodes with a good amount of screentime. In fact, there is one episode named after her which is a heartwarming nod to the relationships with the 99th precinct. She acts as a daughter of the Holt-Cozner household and is truly the queen of the straight-laced couple's hearts. You can also see how much she loves her adoptive parents, noticeably misbehaving and even running away when she misses a Paris-bound Kevin (a fact that the Nine-Nine deduces a little too late) and slathers Holt with affection quite literally, much to his dismay and much to the amusement of Jake and Amy.

In the series, she is notably played by more than two actor dogs, as spotted by eagle-eyed fans. You will notice that through the series' different seasons, the Corgi playing the intrepid Cheddar has a different coloring and look. This amazing discovery is amusing and shows us how much fans love the series. However, no one is complaining as each dog is a cute and fluffy puppy in their own right. While it seems like the series creators don't care much for series continuity, Cheddar is seriously adorable no matter what iteration of her character it is. She is always written as an intelligent dog who isn't afraid to go out and adventure on her own.
