Introduction

In the grand scheme of animal characteristics, dogs and dinosaurs share a fair amount of similarities, most of which come down to their genuine love for meat (the carnivorous species at least), their lengthy tenure on planet Earth, and their penchant for trouble-making whether it’s in the wild or in a home. Because of it, along with their varied attributes and representations in pop culture, we are left with a great dog-naming resource list that should help match up a significant number of canines with fun, apt, and clever titles that should have them as memorable to others as they are to you.

Dinosaur Inspired Dog Names in Pop Culture

Dinosaur Inspired Dog Name Considerations

Since dinosaurs have wholly-distinct names that are not only difficult to pronounce but are just as difficult to remember, we’ve erred on the side of caution and decided to fill our list with names and nicknames of those who have achieved at least some sort of pop culture status, whether it’s a mainstream film series or an obscure comic book character, as they will suit our purpose that much better.

To find a good fit, we recommend starting by taking note of your dog’s most unique and quirky characteristics and matching them up with a name or character that is similar in some fashion.

For instance, if your dog happens to make cute little grunting noises or has a coat pattern that makes them look like they have a saddle, boots, and a white underbelly, then Yoshi would be a great fit. If they have a habit of regular destruction, then Godzilla, Reptar, Bowser or Indominus would certainly be appropriate. For a dog that loves to soar through the air, such as off the couch or into water, then Petrie, Pterri, Madonna, or Elsa would all be great choices.

Whatever you choose, there are no limits to what characteristics you choose, how you match them up, or how creative you get with your references, so reach deep, try everything from the Triassic to Jurassic (Park, that is) and sink your teeth into our juicy, meaty roster of great Dinosaur Inspired names if you need some inspiration.
