Dog Names Ending in nu

If you’re not convinced that dog names ending in "nu" will ever work, then maybe find out if the consonant and vowel combination is common anywhere else? Surely there are dogs in pop culture who have dog names ending in "nu" as well, even if it’s not as common as a name such as Spot.

Believe it or not, there are two and possibly even more dogs that fit that bill, hitting the headlines for one reason or another: NuNu and Sonu. First, we’ll talk about NuNu. NuNu is a Chihuahua who made The Dog Whisperer the success it is. The dog trainer, Cesar Millan, paid tribute to his first ever dog on the show who he managed to help.

Called the “demon Chihuahua,” NuNu was exceptionally protective of his owner, Tina, to the point that anyone who tried to go near her would receive a bite. NuNu would lunge, growl, and bite to protect her.

Even though many people were skeptical of Cesar’s abilities at first, NuNu’s case put their skepticism to rest. The way he handled her and transformed her was a testament to his skill as a dog handler and trainer.

Cesar said NuNu went from a “demonic dog” to a sweet “little lover.” NuNu was such a success story that she often appeared throughout The Dog Whisperer. His mom, Tina, even became Cesar’s assistant. Cesar has NuNu to thank for how successful his show ended up being.

Another standout dog in pop culture with a name ending in "nu" is Sonu. There are around 400,000 stray dogs in India, and Sonu is one of them. Many of these dogs end up forming close bonds with the humans that live around them. Even though they may not have a lot to offer them, they still give the dogs food when they can.

Sonu is a small five-year-old dog that lives in Kasturba Gandhi Marg, a busy area in Delhi. Every day, Vijay Kumar Maurya, a tea stall caterer, feeds Sonu. He has been doing so since he found Sonu - alone and abandoned - as a puppy in 2011.

Sonu is exceptionally obedient and doesn’t appreciate stale food. He loves biscuits, especially since the habit started when he was a puppy. Vijay fed him milk and cookies, and the routine started. The only problem is, Sonu is a little bit greedy and doesn’t know when to stop eating. Vijay now only gives him as much as he needs.

Vijay also knows that Sonu is one of many like him, but he likes to know that even though he can’t offer much, he can at least make one dog’s life a little more comfortable.
