Dog Names Meaning Fierce

White Fang is a 1973 movie based on a book written by Jack London in 1906. It is about a wild wolf-dog who is befriended by a small boy named Mitsah in the 1890s Alaska during the gold rush. Mitsah’s father, Charlie, finds his son trying to make friends with the dog and he scares it away because he is afraid it will hurt him. Mitsah named him White Fang because of his big white teeth. Although his father does not approve, Mitsah makes friends with White Fang and continues to try and tame him. They enjoy many days together playing and running around while Charlie is out trapping for fur.

One night, Mitsah is walking to meet his friend and falls through a frozen lake that he is walking on into the freezing cold water and cannot get out. Luckily, White Fang is with him and sees what happened to his small human friend. He goes to Charlie and barks like crazy until Charlie decides to follow him and see what is going on. He chases White Fang to the lake and finds his son in the water, almost dead. The boy is saved by his father and White Fang working together to get him out, and they bring him back to the hut where White Fang and Charlie try to warm him up. Mitsah is suffering from severe hypothermia and needs help, so Charlie decides to take him to the nearest town for help. 

On the way to town, Charlie meets some of his old friends, Scott and Kurt, and they agree to help transport the boy to the next town, but they tell Charlie that the town, Dawson City, is not safe because of the corruption and lawlessness. They go to the town anyway because Mitsah is so sick and they meet Sister Evangeline who is a nun that runs a hospital there. Sister Evangeline takes care of Mitsah, but Charlie and his friends are threatened by the leader of the town, Beauty Smith and his men. White Fang, who has been by Mitsah’s side the whole time, tries to defend Charlie and gets into a fight with Smith’s dog, who is killed by White Fang. 

Smith offers Charlie a bunch of money for White Fang, but Charlie refuses, and Smith has his gang attack Charlie, and he is fatally stabbed in the fight. Smith takes White Fang for his own and starts using him to make money by fighting. When Smith has White Fang fight a bear that is chained to a pole, the dog kills the bear but is badly wounded in the fight. Sister Evangeline and Charlie’s friend Scott save the dog and bring him back to Mitsah, who is starting to feel better. He still doesn’t know his dad was killed. Soon after, Smith gets into trouble with the townsfolk, and he and his buddy Hall take Mitsah hostage as he tries to get away. 

Scott, Sister Evangeline, White Fang, and some townsfolk chase Smith, and when he is cornered, he tries to get rid of the followers by blowing up a dam. White Fang jumps on Smith and stops him and saves Mitsah. Scott tries to bring Smith back to town for justice, but the dam suddenly explodes, taking Smith and White Fang with it. The next day, as Scott, Kurt, Sister Evangeline, and Mitsah sail away on the river, they are all upset about losing White Fang when they suddenly see the dog swimming to them from the riverbank. He catches up to the boat and is back together with Mitsah again.
