Dog Names Meaning Patience

In the film, one of Nana's chief responsibilities is to give the Darling children medication every night. She is extremely patient and loving during the process. Nana is also shown in the film cleaning and putting away the children's toys. She is clearly a beloved member of the family.

In the film, when George Darling argues with one of his children he turns and storms out of the room. He does not see Nana and falls over her. Everyone rushes to Nana to make sure she is okay but they ignore George. This infuriates George so he puts poor Nana in the doghouse. Tiny Michael grabs her tail in an effort to hold her back from George and rescue her from going to the doghouse. She reaches down and gently picks the boy up and sets him aside. In that instant, she offers reassurance that it's okay. Even if she has to go to the doghouse, she will not be far away and the children will be fine. When George reaches the doghouse with Nana he even starts to feel bad but he is stubborn and still maintains that she must spend the night outdoors in the doghouse to learn that she is indeed a canine and the children are not puppies. 

On the rare occasion when Nana does get into trouble and is sent to the doghouse, everyone feels sad in the family. It is generally accepted that sweet-natured Nana does not belong in any doghouse outdoors. It is from her perch by the doghouse that she first sees the children fly out of the window with Peter Pan. Nana is shown to sadly wave goodbye to the kids. She is clearly scared and depressed. The next morning, Nana is brought into the house. Nana personifies patience and love in a canine. Although a fictional character, the large sweet-natured dog quickly wins the audiences hearts and leaves an undeniable impression on anyone viewing the iconic film.
