Dog Names Meaning Soul

In 1989, United Artists and Goldcrest Films released an animated comedy-drama called, "All Dogs Go to Heaven." The film tells the story of a German Shepherd dog named Charles B. Barkin who is murdered by a friend named Carface. Upon arrival in heaven, Charles B. Barkin decides not to go into the paradise but instead chooses to return to Earth to team up with his best friend Itchy who is still alive. The duo eventually meets an orphan girl named Anne Marie who teaches them both the true meaning of love and forgiveness. 

One of the stipulations for Charles B. Barkin returning to Earth is that if he is again killed then he will not return to heaven but instead be sent to hell. Anne Marie has the ability to talk to animals so Carface kidnaps her. Charles B. Barkin and Itchy manage to rescue the small girl. They both lie to her and tell her that if she helps them they will give all the money they win to charity and help her find parents. Unfortunately, Anne Marie eventually finds out that they have lied to her and threatens to leave. Charles and Itchy have built a successful casino but Itchy destroys the place. The dogs and the girl go through numerous misadventures as Charles tries to seek revenge. During the entire film, after returning from heaven, Charles wears a watch that renders him immortal but when the watch stops ticking he is doomed to die and go to hell. 

At the end of the movie, Charles shows how much he truly loves Anne Marie by giving the ultimate sacrifice. He gives his life in order to save her. After Charles' death, Anne Marie is adopted and the family also takes in Charles' friend Itchy. Charles visits Anne Marie in ghost form to apologize to her. He wants her to know how much he loves her before he has to go to hell. As the dog's ghost is talking to the small girl an angel appears in the form of a Whippet. The angel tells Charles that because he sacrificed his life for Anne Marie he is a good dog and all good dogs go to heaven so Charles will not be going to hell.

Charles waits for Anne Marie to fall asleep before his soul finally leaves her side to go to heaven. Ultimately, the film ends with the dog in heaven receiving his halo.
