Dog Names that Start with Cu

Canines have many skills and instincts, and among those instincts is the ability to sense a variety of human conditions, whether emotional, physical or psychological.  Not only are dogs given this sensitivity, but they also provide comfort to those suffering from these various maladies as they come gently, bond quickly, and share large amounts of unconditional love.  This keen perception of our furry friends has been mostly untapped for centuries, except as it applies to the needs within the family unit within which the dog lives - this canine contribution untapped but NOT unrecognized.

Our pop culture spotlight today is Cubby, a Golden Retriever who has the honor of being perhaps the only K-9 Comfort Dog in Colorado.  Cubby, the Comfort Dog, proudly displays her pretty blue vest, which sports her name and her purpose, “Please Pet Me.”  And who could resist those shining brown eyes that spill over with love?  How could anyone gaze into her beautiful eyes and not be drawn by her charms or her desire to be near and to comfort? Cubby can sense when someone is hurting or someone who needs comfort.  She can pick the needy person out of a crowd or find them in a room full of noisy, busy people.  And, she’s never missed an opportunity to give the much-needed comfort.  She’s a 3-year old Golden Retriever who administers therapy and support across the United States, and she does this through one of 15 care ministries with Redeemer Lutheran Church located in Fort Collins, Colorado.  

She has multiple handlers and one caregiver, who gets her dressed for work every morning.  She enables the soft touch of comfort, calmness, stability, and importantly, she gives lots of hugs!  She has her office hours, as well as visiting schools, hospice facilities, nursing homes, police departments, fire departments and churches sharing her unusual kind of comfort.  She is part of suicide awareness programs in both churches and schools.  She is even a regular attendee of the Redeemer Lutheran Church’s early childhood learning facility where she teaches children to be good listeners, listens to stories and willingly accepts all the hugs she can get.  She is a bridge between those who need comfort and her handlers who are willing to listen and support, sharing the unconditional love of Cubby.  She opens doors that have been closed by pain, enabling love, comfort, and healing to occur.
