Dog Names that Start with Lu

Dog's named Lucky often have sad beginnings with triumphant lives where they rise above the pain and suffering.  Dog lovers do not have to go far to find a dog named Lucky who was rescued from a terrible life or a frightening circumstance and who rose above to bear the odds.  The name certainly goes with such dog tales.  One such dog in recent times to bear the name Lucky is a Coonhound from Arizona.  The poor pup was found in the desert with a small depression in his head.  The Border Patrol agent that found the Coonhound took him to the nearest shelter where an X-Ray examination revealed the dog had been living with a 9mm bullet lodged in his head that had traveled down to his jaw.  The veterinarians and shelter workers were all baffled at the Coonhound's miraculous ability to live and heal with the bullet in his head that they named him Lucky.

Another dog dubbed Lucky was a Hurricane Harvey survivor.  The pup was found tied to a telephone pole in rising waters and completely abandoned by his former owners.  The pup's rescuer brought him to a local shelter that was taking care of displaced pets before going back out to rescue more people and pets.  Upon his return to the shelter, the dog who had been tied up to the post ran straight to his rescuer in gratitude and love.

The lucky theme for dogs named Lucky is also portrayed in comic books by Marvel.  In the Hawkeye series, Clint Barton, also known as Hawkeye, shows kindness to Arrow, a dog who belongs to Ivan Banionis, a member of the Tracksuit Mafia.  When members of the Tracksuit Mafia attack Hawkeye, Arrow comes to his rescue but pays a dear price for his interference.  After saving Hawkeye, the Tracksuit Mafia severely beat Arrow and throw him into traffic for dead, but Hawkeye comes to Arrow's aid and brings the badly beaten pup to the veterinarian's office.  Unfortunately, Arrow loses his left eye in the process but Hawkeye renames the dog Lucky for his near-death experience and reemergence into life as a stronger dog who works for good now instead of evil.  Lucky is later given the title, "The Pizza Dog" for his love of pizza and it is pizza that brings this hero together with Mew, a white cat who also enjoys pizza and helps keep the street of New York safe from those who would cause it harm.  Not all dogs with the name Lucky have such sad or hard beginnings, and dog owners may wish to give any dog they adopt this name.  However, several dogs in pop culture and throughout history have stories of survival associated with the name Lucky.
