When viewers initially encountered Bee, he was wounded and on the verge of passing away. However, the then-villanous Majin Buu used his powers to heal the dog in a rare moment of kindness. Majin Buu expected Bee to run away, but the dog defied expectations by staying by his dark savior's side. Bee and Buu grew very close and their relationship was one of the main reasons why Majin Buu would eventually turn over a new leaf and change his ways.

Bee also helped Majin Buu learn to form connections with humans, as the World Martial Arts Champion Hercule ended up befriending Majin Buu due to their shared relationship with Bee, whom Hercule incidentally named. Hercule, Buu, and Bee became something of a three man band who went on a few adventures of their own, apart from the Z Warriors, until an unfortunate incident in which the pup's life was put in jeopardy. A ruthless criminal by the name of Van Zant wound up shooting Bee nearly to death as well as Hercule when he tried to intervene. Buu was able to heal his friends and return them to better health, but he was still seething with rage. Buu, in fact, was so furious that he began to genuinely fume and eject jets of steam from his body. That steam took a form of its own and completely consumed Majin Buu, transforming him into the dubious Super Buu after assimilating Majin Buu into itself. Though Majin Buu was physically gone, his love for Hercule and Bee was so strong that even Super Buu was unable to bring itself to hurt either the man or the dog. Bee didn't make too many appearances throughout DBZ, but it's quite incredible how much of an impression the Labrador left on an evil being capable of destroying planets.

The anthropomorphic ninja dog Shu is another prominently featured dog in the Dragon Ball world, but he comes second to Bee purely because wasn't seen or mentioned throughout the entirety of Dragon Ball Z, the sequel series to Dragon Ball. Nevertheless, most Dragon Ball Z fans are aware of Shu due to his appearances in Dragon Ball Super.
