Glen of Imaal Terrier Dog Names

The Glen of Imaal Terrier named Emmet has been making waves in the conformation ring. He was shown by Kate Flack of Seattle, Washington, at the Eastern Copper Circuit Cluster conformation show hosted by the Yellowstone Valley Kennel Club on June 20, 2017 where he won best of breed under Judge Carol Graham. Emmet is also known as Grand Champion Keadeen’s Sir Emmet Mingus Glas. Emmet’s sire is Grand Champion Cill Dara’s Fergus of Daulton and his dam is Champion Liberty’s Colors of Keadeen. Emmet is owned by Amy Tighe and Jerry Kindall of Keadeen Glen of Imaal Terriers. Emmet is carrying on a strong family tradition since both his sire and dam have also been successful in the show ring.

The first Glen of Imaal Terrier purchased by Tighe and Kindall is Emmet’s grandfather, Grand Champion Finnabair Pride of Wicklow, or Stanley for short. Violet, Emmet’s dam, was the second Glen of Imaal Terrier that Tighe and Kindall purchased. She was bred at Liberty Glens, owned by Ara Lynn and is the daughter of Grand Champion Finnabair Pride of Wicklow and Champion Daulton Delivers Patience. Violet was brought home and almost immediately began enjoying great success in the show ring. Kindall formed a close bond with Violet and began showing her. Her first big win was at the All Terrier Club of Western Washington, where she won best of breed. 

There are not many Glen of Imaal Terriers being shown within the state of Washington and that makes it difficult to finish a Glen’s championship without traveling outside of the state. However, in 2013, there were enough Glens entered at a show to make a major; a major in Glen of Imaal Terriers is four or more dogs entered at one show. Violet won at this show, going down in history as the first Glen of Imaal Terrier to win a major at a Washington state show. Violet went on to earn more points toward her championship, including two more major wins. She became the first Glen of Imaal Terrier to earn all of the points toward her championship in the state of Washington. Violet was even able to beat her father for best of breed at a few shows. In 2013, Violet was ranked #14 among all Glens being exhibited. While Violet has not completely retired from the show ring, she only occasionally can be found strutting her stuff around the ring. Instead, she can be found working towards her agility title. She can also be seen at barn hunts and nose work trials.
