Introduction

Aloha! Beautiful Hawaii is the setting of Disney's hit movie, Lilo and Stitch. Of course, Lilo is a native girl who is being raised by her sister after the death of their parents. Lilo is largely friendless, but she is so curious and creative. Her sister, Nani, agrees to let Lilo adopt a dog to keep her company. Little do Lilo and Nani know that the "dog" they bring home is not a dog, but Experiment 626, a creature, who, like Lilo, is known for high intelligence and a propensity for rambunctiousness. Eventually, Lilo and her sister will fight to keep Dr. Jumba, Stitch's creator, from taking Stitch back to his home planet.

Lilo and Stitch Dog Name Considerations

Stitch, upon landing on earth, is soon mistaken for a dog. While the cartoon character does not truly resemble any dog breed, one might consider some of the more odd-looking dog breeds when thinking about what breeds might be best suited for a Lilo and Stitch-inspired name.

The corded hair of the Puli is often compared to dreadlocks. Looks can truly be deceiving when it comes to the Puli; he is actually a very agile dog despite the appearance of having a heavy coat. By contrast, the Mexican Hairless dog, also known as the Xoloitzcuintli, is said to resemble a bat due to its long ears and sleek head. The Bedlington Terrier might look more like a young sheep, particularly if its handlers groom them in the traditional style (a Bedlington Terrier groomed for the show ring very closely resembles a lamb; even the texture of their hair is like that of a sheep). However, the oddest looking pup has a coat that resembles felt. The Bergamasco has fur that, when it mats, literally looks like the felt that can be purchased at the craft store!

Each of the aforementioned pups has a physical characteristic which makes them stand out in the dog world. This makes them more than well-suited for a Lilo and Stitch-inspired name!
