Mandarin Dog Names

When you hear the name Snickers, you probably think of the candy bar with chocolate, caramel, and peanuts, but this Snickers is more of a hero than a candy bar. Although Snickers is not a Mandarin name, Snickers the dog is of a breed that originated in China, where Mandarin is spoken. Snickers, a one-year-old Chinese Shar-Pei mix was responsible for saving the members of her family who were all asleep in their RV. According to the news, Snickers noticed that the RV was on fire and woke up one of the members of the family, who was able to wake everyone else, so they could all get out safely. Snickers was jumping through the flames, again and again, trying to wake everyone up. She even got some minor burns on her paws and tail in the process. 

But the story does not end there. In fact, the family had been living in their RV so when they lost their RV in the fire; they had to find a new place to live right away. Unfortunately, they were not able to keep Snickers with them because their new place did not allow dogs. Snickers was left at a Texas animal shelter called Glen Rose Animal Control, who was shocked that the family was giving up their hero but understood that they had no choice. Because Snickers was over a year old, Loretta Adams, who worked at the shelter, was afraid that she would be put on the list for euthanasia since this was not a no-kill shelter. 

She was so worried about it that she made sure that Snickers got a home by helping her story get out there. Since this heroic canine was such a friendly and lovable dog and had such a great story behind her, she decided to share her story with the local news channels. Soon after the story hit the news in Texas, it was posted on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites, going viral within the hour. Not long after, Snickers was adopted by her new family.

Tanya Patterson and her family saw the story about Snickers on the news and decided that she would fit right in with their small family. They have a big huge yard where she can run and play with her new fur friends and her human family, including a 10-year-old girl who was super excited to get such a great new pet. In fact, she was so happy about it that she went out and bought her a whole bunch of new toys and a new bed to sleep in.
