Jessica Day, the show's main character, has an on-again, off-again relationship with one of her roommates, Nick. In the last season, it looks like the pair has finally figured things out and are happily dating. To solidify their union, Jess looks into embarking on a noble act together - that of adopting a pupper. The pair set out on a mission to impress the adoption counselor, who Jess had previously scared off by coming across as smothering.

Cue Mario, who is white, rust, and cute all over. This small woofer's presence make Jess so excited she actually must exit the room to audibly scream, but she keeps it together so that the two can get through the interview process to qualify to keep Mario. Some unexpected events then ensue with friends of the couple and some poor timing on the counselor's part, causing the process to go south and the pooch to bolt out of there.

What was supposed to be a calm and composed appointment turns into a full-out chase to rescue Mario before harm catches him. Nick and Jess dash through neighborhoods to safeguard the wellbeing of their almost pet. Nick, at last, scoops up the fur-baby, their friends surround them, the scene crescendoes and Nick proposes to Jess. It's chaotic and cute, much like the tone of the show for its entirety. 

Is it fitting that bringing a canine into their relationship coincided with declarations of love and happiness? We think so! But more importantly, hopefully, the oodles of fans of the show will become inspired by their favorite characters' method of adding a furry family member.
