Pakistani Mastiff Dog Names

When Kenny was found and his care taken over by Michael Waugh, founder of Pennine Pen Animal Rescue in Oldham, Greater Manchester, he was so eaten up with sarcoptic mange, a highly contagious dog disease, that he didn't even have any hair on his body. You couldn't tell what color he was. His skin was painfully cracked and filled with infection. The dog was starving and had collapsed on the street. Mr. Waugh said he had never seen a worse case of neglect in the 15 years he's been running the shelter. The condition of the dog upset him so much he actually cried tears.

The goal, of course, was to rehabilitate Kenny into the beautiful, proud dog he was meant to be. It started with daily medicated baths that soon began to work their magic. Staff had to shovel away piles of dead skin falling off him for the first couple weeks. The sores that covered his infected skin started to heal and he ate good, healthy food to help him gain weight. 

Physically, Kenny is doing better but psychologically he has a ways to go. He is terrified of almost everything. When he goes on walks with a handler he flinches at the sounds of cars going by. A branch brushing up against him makes him jump, and when darkness comes you can see the fear in his eyes and the restlessness of his body. If it's raining outside, Kenny refuses to step a paw out in it. The folks at the shelter bought him a squeaky toy to ease his discomfort but that backfired. He ran from the toy when it squeaked.

Mr. Waugh thinks Kenny may have been kept locked up most of his life so everything is new and scary to him. With time and care, Kenny will hopefully overcome his many phobias. He just needs to build his confidence and his knowledge of the world around him. Thankfully, Kenny has people who care about him now, people who will make sure that he knows love and the beauty of people and things he encounters.
