While the trip should have taken twenty-five days, it was made in just under six. With such poor conditions, the driver could not see even the dogs closest to him. The lead dog of the last leg of the journey, named Balto, earned great recognition, however it is important to note the contribution of all of the dogs who made the journey successful.

In addition to their real-life adventures, multiple movies feature the Siberian Husky. The compelling 2006 film Eight Below will keep you on the edge of your seat, featuring eight sled dogs left at a polar base after their trainer has to be evacuated due to a heavy snow storm. While the plan had been to immediately return for the dogs, weather conditions did not allow for that to happen and they were left alone for six months. The emotionally-charged film is the story of their efforts to survive on their own.

The 2016 documentary Sled Dogs takes a look at the breeding and care of those dogs, many of which are Siberian Huskies, that are raised for the purpose of dog sled racing. The adventurous film Iron Will, made in 1994, tells the story of Will who is left to take care of his mother and their land when his father dies. In need of money, he joins a cross country dogsled race where he will have to spend long days in harsh weather traversing difficult terrain with his team of dogs. A lighter film featuring Siberian Huskies is the family-friendly 2002 film Snow Dogs, where a dentist inherits a team of sled dogs and has to learn the trade or lose his team.
