Goldrinn

Goldrinn is a gigantic, white, mythical wolf that has appeared in many stories and legends throughout Azeroth's history. Goldrinn, known as Lo'Gosh in the Tauren language of Taur-ahe, is a Wild God; a race of ethereal and eternal spirits that represent various aspects of nature. Wild Gods are considered to be demigods due to the fact that their physical bodies exist on Azeroth while their spirits dwell in the spiritual realms known as the Emerald Dream. The Wild Gods were created by Freya, the Titan Keeper, and initially traveled by her side for a long time before each of the Wild Gods went their separate ways in order to aid the mortal races of Azeroth.

Goldrinn's path led him to participate in the War of the Ancients, a destructive battle that culminated in the Burning Legion invading Azeroth in an attempt to take it over. Goldrinn wanted to help fend off the hordes of demons that would soon attempt to conquer Azeroth, but the goddess Elune was uncertain that Lo'Gosh would be able to keep his unkempt rage in check. Hurt by the moon goddess' harsh judgement of his character, Goldrinn's heart became hardened, as well as his will. Despite Elune's harsh verdict of his character, Goldrinn proved that his heart was just as noble as it was savage by helping the Night Elves of Eldre'thalas defend their city against hundreds of demons before tragically falling prey to their seemingly unending numbers.

Goldrinn's legacy persisted long after his untimely demise, as was said to have sired a number of great wolves but his spirit also continued to linger on in Azeroth until he met a warrior king by the name of Varian Wrynn. Varian shared man similarities with Goldrinn, as both were noble souls who were also bloodthirsty and vicious in battle. But what drew Goldrinn to Varian was the latter's ability to put his love for his people before his savage nature--something that even Lo'Gosh had trouble doing during his lifetime. Impressed by Varian's ability to temper his savage nature, Goldrinn's spirit bonded with the warrior king, enhancing the later's already immense and incomparable prowess in battle.

Goldrinn's legacy was also kept alive by way of the mystical artifact, the Scythe of Elune, which was created by bonding one of Goldrinn's fangs with the fabled Staff of Elune. Merging the personal effects of these once disparate deities is often seen as a representation of the respect Elune developed for Goldrinn in the aftermath of the War of the Ancients.
