Zootopia Dog Name Considerations

When choosing a name for your new canine companion, it is best to choose one that can be easily and clearly pronounced by everyone who will be involved with their training to avoid confusion. Choosing a name that is distinctive from the commands you will be using most often may reduce the amount of time required to train your dog as it will help to avoid misunderstandings during training sessions. When choosing a name from a movie, you can either choose a character name, like Judy or Nick, or you can use a name that denotes a place or significant item in the movie, such as Sahara or Tundra.

One way to help pinpoint the best name for your dog from a list developed from a movie like this is to choose a name that describes the dog’s physical appearance such as Mr. Big, either for a large dog or used ironically as it is in the movie for a very small one. Color can be an influence as well, making the name Blueberry appropriate for a dog with a blue-tinged coat, while Sharla, the name of a black sheep, may be fitting for your black dog. Your dog’s habits and behavior may give you a clue as well, leading you to choose a name like Gazelle or Jerry for a dog that sings or Bucky or Pronk for dogs that are just loud in general.
