Activity description
Sometimes your fur baby is simply in need of a little TLC. And a makeover is just fun. They’re the center of your world, and they love the attention. You can actually buy puppy makeup that is 100% natural and safe to use on animals. It washes away without a hitch. Aside from that, though, you can groom a dog with a brush and touch up their coat with some clippers. Just be careful. If you don’t trust yourself, take them to the groomer for a doggie spa day. You can add hairbows, hats, and an outfit later. The point is, you get to hang out with your favorite Mr. or Ms. Fluffy while also doing what you love.
Step
1
Purchase some animal-safe makeup
That’s right! They make it! Find a trusted source and buy in-store or online. We first learned about this when we looked into the Target dog’s (Bullseye) makeup. His makeup is actually healthy for his coat and skin, so it’s almost like giving him a facial. You might even find some all-natural, tried and true makeup recipes online.
Step
2
Clothes are an added bonus
And they don’t have to be brand new from the store! You can create your dog’s outfit from scarves, hats, and other clothes and accessories that you have at home. Raid your closet and see what might work for what you have in mind. You’re a creative spirit, so we have no doubt you’ll find a puppy wardrobe that speaks… or barks!
Step
3
Invite friends (human and canine)
This can be great fun with a human friend and fellow dog pal. Maybe you have a makeup artist bestie who also has a dog. You two will have a ball making over your canines. Take pictures and post to your social media accounts so that your community can smile and laugh along with you.

Face paint and brushes

Paper towels or cloths
Harness and leash

Activity description
This is such a great way to get out and meet your community. You could do face painting during a festival if you sign up, or just check with your local park and make sure it’s okay for a random summer day when kids are out of school and looking for some fun. You’re so talented when it comes to the face, so get out there and paint some dog faces on these kiddos. Take your pup along for the day. They’ll bring the families to your setup. You can have a list of designs you can do, or simply wing it: let the children (and maybe even some adults) tell you what they’d like painted on their cheeks.
Step
1
Gather supplies and set up
You’ll need a place for people to sit as you work, and you might even like a chair. If it’s super sunny and hot, you might set up a little tent to work under. Your dog will appreciate the shade as well. You’ll need paints, brushes, water, paper towels, and maybe even a fan.
Step
2
Bring your pup along to attract passersby
Use your dog as a way to pull people in! Usually, when folks see a dog, they’re interested. Most parks will require your dog to be on a leash, but that’s okay. Your pup will most likely adore the fact that everyone is stopping, staring, and even joining your tent for a while.
Step
3
Tip jar to benefit local charity
Check with your local vet or shelter and see if there’s a particular animal in need. You can set up a tip jar, and as you paint faces, you can explain your mission. Vet bills can be expensive, but you might be able to help. Spread the word, paint some adorable faces, and see if you’re able to raise even half of the bill amount in a single day!

Painting With Your Pooch

Any Day
Moderate
Normal
2 hrs
Items needed
Canvases
Easels
Drop cloth
Paint
Brushes
Water
Paper towels or cloths
Activity description
Sometimes artists like to deviate from their normal canvas, just to experiment, to stretch themselves, or to appreciate their routine surfaces more. Whatever the case, painting with your dog can be a really great time for all. You might even invite a human friend and a puppy playmate to join the fun. It’s not about the masterpieces; it’s all about spending time together, unwinding, and seeing what you and your dog can do. They might surprise you with their pawesome abstract art! This makes for a lovely Saturday morning adventure. You can shake off the worries of the week and spend some time with your number one buddy.
Step
1
Purchase supplies
Head to your nearest arts and crafts supply store and purchase canvases, paints, and brushes if you don’t already have them. Easels are wonderful, too. Otherwise, your pup may have a difficult time getting the hang of this whole painting activity. Place a drop cloth over the floor because things can get messy quickly!
Step
2
Train your dog to paint
Put some paint on your dog’s paintbrush, and physically show them how to make strokes on their canvas. If your pooch is a smart one, they’ll pick this up in no time. It may take a few extra tries with some dogs, but their art piece can actually look really amazing in the end. Check out “Dog Vinci” for some inspiration!
Step
3
Display your work
The whole idea here is to laugh and make memories with your fur baby. So, don’t forget to do that! The work week has enough anxieties of its own. Let them go. Be with your pooch and smile. When you’re finished with your artwork, display the pieces side by side. Your house guests will love hearing that you painted them with your talented, four-legged sidekick.

Makeup Sessions for Charity

Give free makeup sessions and tips outside or inside a public place. Let people know that all proceeds go to the local animal shelter. Bring your pup along for the day. They’ll attract attention for sure!

Experiment and Cuddle

Experiment with your own makeup on the couch! From the comforts of your own home, practice some new techniques. Every ten minutes or so, make time to play with and pet your doggo. More than likely, they’ve been staring at you playing with your own face and wondering what is going on. They’ll soon love makeup as much as you do if they learn that it involves belly rubs!

Conclusion

You know that before lights, camera, and action, there’s plenty of makeup happening behind the scenes. Your work can be difficult at times, but you love it. It’s your passion, and you even like to keep that makeup gig rolling during your spare time. Grab your dog, your makeup kits, and enjoy yourself. You’re adding beauty to the world, just as your pup adds beauty to your life.
