Bully Pitsky

There is little information on the exact history of the Bully Pitsky, so, in order to understand more about the breed, it is important to learn about the parent breeds. The American Pit Bull Terrier was bred as a farm dog, and eventually the dog became more of a guardian and companion dog. However, some currently use the American Pit for wild boar hunting. Surprisingly, Pits were eventually used as “nanny dogs” because they were so protective of and gentle with children. The original parents of the American Pit Bull Terrier were developed in England when bull and terrier type dogs were bred for use in bull and bear-baiting activities. When these activities went out of fashion (they were eventually deemed as inhumane), the Pit Bull was used in dog fighting. Eventually, immigrants brought the Pit Bull to America, where they became farm dogs. The Husky originated among the Chukchi, a band of native nomads. While the exact origin of the Husky is unknown, DNA does confirm that the Husky is one of the oldest dog breeds. Not only did the dogs provide transportation for their owners, but they also slept inside with the families, possibly to help with warmth. The Husky was brought to Alaska in 1908 where they became sled dogs. The Bully Pitsky is recognized by the Dog Registry of America.
