Bowman's Beach
To access the beach, you will need to walk for about a quarter mile from the parking lot. The walk will include passage over a freshwater bridge. Sandy trails weave throughout the area, all leading to the white sand and ocean. There are no houses or hotels here, which keeps this beach quiet. You can stroll the beach for many miles looking for shells, or just to tire out your doggo.
You and your pup can also enjoy swimming, hiking the trails, or even catching a bite to eat at the picnic areas with grills. If you love getting on the water, there is a canoe and kayak launch. Restrooms for the humans are on site, but be sure to bring clean-up bags for your pup, and always stoop and scoop. Outdoor showers and changing rooms make getting the sand off a breeze!
Be sure to bring any essentials for a pawtastic day in the sand and surf, including water to share with your thirsty pup. There is a water fountain for dogs in the parking lot, but you may want to tote water to the actual beach for convenience. Your dog does need to stay leashed throughout the entire beach.
To travel to Sanibel Island from the mainland, note that there is a toll of $6.00. While entrance to the beach is free, parking does cost $5.00 an hour. Bike racks are on site, and there is a payphone in the parking area.
