Buttersville Park Beach

Sandwiched between Lake Michigan and Pere Marquette Lake, Buttersville Park boasts beautiful views of the Lake Michigan shoreline. It's also home to one of the state's most picturesque dog-friendly beaches — if you and your furry friend head past the seating area and climb down the steps, you'll soon find yourselves with sand between your toes.

Buttersville Park Peach is a wide stretch of sand on the shores of Lake Michigan. There's plenty of room for dogs to run, jump, sniff, play, and explore up and down the beach, and though there are a few pebbles they shouldn't cause any problems for your pooch. There's a decent stretch of sand if you'd like to enjoy a relaxing stroll with your furry friend, but take note of where the off-leash area starts and ends to stay out of trouble.

If your dog likes to get wet, the still waters are perfect for a spot of canine splashing and frolicking. Water access is quick and easy, but it's a good idea to check the water temperature during the colder months before sending your pet in for a dip.

Another grrr-eat feature about Buttersville Park Beach is that it's located just down the road from a state-licensed campground. There you'll find a picnic area with grills, restrooms and a pavilion, not to mention plenty of wonderful vantage points for taking in a gorgeous sunset.

Some visitors have pointed out that the beach can be a little difficult to find, so it's worth researching your route ahead of time. There's also limited parking available near the beach access point, but you'll find ample spaces in the park itself.
