McAbee Beach

McAbee Beach is located in Monterey, California and is a popular dog beach among the locals. The beach and sand area itself are quite small, but there is still enough room for your dog to walk and play in the sand and swim in the ocean. At the beach, you will find mostly soft sand, but there are some large rock formations on the beach as well. The cove has rather shallow and still waters in the summertime, making it an ideal spot for smaller dogs and dogs that are not fond of large crashing waves. 

The cove and beach sit in city limits, so you are surrounded by shops and restaurants. 

There are tons of things to do around Monterey after you and your pup are done hanging out at this little beach! Since the beach is so small, you will not find any amenities. There are no showers, restrooms, or drinking stations. If you are looking for a more inclusive beach that has these features, you are better off checking out one of the other dog-friendly beaches nearby. 

Furthermore, this is not a beach you would necessarily plan a beach day to. It is more a beach you would stop by to take in some beautiful views or play with your dog for a bit and then leave. There are both shady and sunny areas on the beach, so you can choose whatever option you wish. There are no poop bags at this location, so bring your own so you can clean up after your dog to keep this cute California beach clean and sanitary for other beachgoers. Your dog must wear their leash at all times during your visit to McAbee Beach. 

Overall, McAbee Beach is a beautiful, quaint beach that is perfect for taking your dog for a quick dip in the water or playtime at a beach. Although small, its beautiful and clean sand still makes for a fun beach stop with your pooch.
