North Beach Park

A swimming beach, dune steps, sand everywhere, and scenic Michigan views - what more could you and your pooch want in a dog-friendly beach? The North Beach Park off of Lake Michigan is a cozy, beautiful, 7-acre park stretching along 745 feet of the Lake Michigan Shoreline. You and your pooch are permitted to enjoy the dune overlook deck, stroll down the barrier-free beach walk, snack in the picnic shelters, and go for a refreshing dip in Lake Michigan at this gorgeous stretch of beach. 

Pups and their pawrents are allowed to explore the beach from October 1 all the way through April 30, but are not permitted to spend time on the beach during the busiest of seasons, May 1st through September 30. That's okay, though! It still leaves you and your four-legged best friend with plenty of beach time before the weather gets too cold to enjoy the sandy dunes and refreshing waters. 

Pups are not allowed to hang out in the restrooms, the playground, or the volleyball courts. This also isn't a park where your doggo can run wild and free; instead, your pup is required to be on a leash that reaches a maximum of 10 feet. So, ensure you're prepared and ready with a well-behaved dog, a regulation leash, and plenty of poop bags! The beach will not provide these for you, so ensure that you're prepared with your own to clean up after your canine companion (the last thing you want is to be caught red-handed without a poop-bag in this glorious beach park). Enjoy this park year round sans pooch, or between October and April with your furry friend! Happy beach days, pups!
