Description

Welcome to Pikes Beach, a treasure trove of white sand and crystal clear waters backing onto an engaging village atmosphere where life moves at a beachy pace of its own.

This highly desirable swimming beach is open to dogs from October 1st right through to April 1st and they must be on-leash at all times. Conservation is high on this town's agenda with a need to protect piping plovers that nest in the sand dunes. You’re beloved Beagle, Great Dane, or little Pug will need to be a safe distance of 50 feet away from these endangered birds. There are signs to help you navigate your way around.

Locals and visitors are asked to keep the beach pristine by bringing your own litter bags and picking up after your pooch. Doggy etiquette is the key to a good time at Pikes beach, where your woofer embraces the seaside ambiance with paw-some behavior.

You can get straight onto the sand via Dune road and be ready for a wondrous walk with your dog. For those who like a select beach that’s less crowded than the norm, Pikes beach is the ideal haunt and does have portable restrooms. Lifeguards are on form throughout the summer months but in the off-season, it’s a lot of wagging tails as dogs and their owners have fun on nature walks with the Atlantic lapping at their paws.

To access Pikes beach you will need a permit and local residents generally pay $40 for a season pass. It's less for seniors, but it will cost people who don’t live in the village and want to spend fun times at this iconic beach $25 for a day pass. If you're from out of town and want to invest in a whole season pass, the one-off payment is $375. There is little shade so if you are looking to spend a few hours taking in the breathtaking views, bring along a sun-umbrella or a tent to shelter your pooch.

Pikes beach has an irresistible ambiance that draws you to its dazzling shores. A smaller setting keeps the beach from being overcrowded and when the days of summer are done it becomes a magical place for dogs to feel the sand under their paws.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
