Description

Set among myrtlewood forest on the banks of the Chetco River in Oregon, Alfred A. Loeb State Park offers a relaxing and laid-back camping getaway for dog owners and their furry friends. The park covers 320 acres, provides visitors with numerous recreational opportunities, and is a great destination for anyone who simply wants to get back to nature.

The park sits in a grove of myrtlewood trees, some of which are over 200 years old. It looks out over the clean and clear waters of the river, which itself is popular for fishing, swimming, and rafting. River and gravel bar access is provided for anglers, with the Chetco offering excellent salmon and steelhead fishing in the fall and winter.

If you'd like to take in the water views from different angles, walk the self-guided Riverview Nature Trail. You may even come across squirrels, river otters, and a variety of other enchanting animals.

When you're ready to set up camp for the night, the pet-friendly campground features 48 electrical sites with water, plus three rustic log cabins (only one of the cabins welcomes pets). Flush toilets and hot showers are available, while many of the campsites and all of the cabins provide beautiful water views.

Daily parking permits cost $5 a day, while camping fees vary depending on the type of accommodation you select. Electrical sites are $24 a night, but a pet-friendly rustic cabin stay will set you back $52 per night.

Please take care to clean up after your dog whenever necessary, and only take your pooch to the areas of the park where they're allowed. You'll also need to keep your pet leashed and under control at all times.

Alfred A. Loeb is a small but scenic park that's well worth a visit. If you're planning a pet-friendly camping trip on Oregon's southern coast, check it out.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
