Description

If you and your buddy are looking for a serene Southern outdoor getaway, then Cotton Hill Campground is a furrific place for you two to pitch your tent! Perched on the shores of the gorgeous Walter F. George Lake near the Georgia-Alabama border, the campground comes with almost all the amenities a pup and their person could ask for. Most of the sites come with water and electric hookups, and even the primitive sites have access to electricity. You’ll also find showers and a dump station on-site, and there are even two well-maintained playgrounds to keep non-furry kids entertained!

All this, and a fabulous location to boot! Not only will you be treated to waterside views, but the mature trees surrounding almost all sites provide plenty of shade. The area is teeming with wildlife, and you might even see the odd deer meandering through camp. Best keep your pooch on a short leash if they have a tendency to tear after other critters!

There’s no entrance fee to the area, and sites start at $22. Though Cotton Hill has over 100 sites on offer, it’s an understandably paw-pular place, so be sure to make your reservation early, particularly if you’ll need to stay at one of the campground’s accessible sites.

You and your buddy certainly won’t be bored during your stay! Walter F. George Lake is something of a place of pilgrimage for anglers. Cast your line and you’ll have a good chance of catching all sorts of bass, catfish, crappie, and bream. You can clean your catch at Cotton Hill’s fish-cleaning station, and cook it on one of the grills provided with each site. If you’re batty about birding, you’re in luck -- the lake provides a natural habitat for warblers, redstarts, and flycatchers. Unfortunately, there aren’t many opportunities for hound-dog hikers nearby, but cultured canines might get a kick out of a stroll through historic downtown Eufaula, under an hour’s drive away.

WiFi isn’t available at Cotton Hill, but all cellular networks should receive decent coverage. Campfires are permitted, and you’ll find drinking water available on-site. Remember to bring waste bags for your four-pawed pal, and have a pawesome time!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
