Description

The hills of Great Seal State Park in Ohio have a long history that stretches over both time and cultures. This area was where the Shawnee peoples lived back when settlers from Europe arrived on the shores. As you take in the beautiful scenery, why not stop for a moment to reflect on this nation and the Native American chief that famously gave a moving speech at this landmark?

You'll only find 15 campsites located around a small loop at Great Seal State Park, along with 2 day-use shelters available for reservation. Each site comes with a picnic table and a fire ring, though no hookups are provided. Nightly rates at the park cost $20 for Friday and Saturday stays, drop to $19 the rest of the week, and cost $22 during holidays. For the months of November and March, staying here only costs $17 per night, no matter the day. Visitors must stay at least two days at a time but cannot camp at a single site for more than two weeks. Also, remember that all parks in this state do not allow alcohol to be brought in.

While here, be sure to check out the many beautiful hiking trails that run through the forest -- and bring your pupper along for the fun! Ross Lake is just down the road and offers boating, fishing, and other outdoor activities for campers. Disc golf and a playground are located at Great Seal, providing even more opportunities for younger patrons to have a good time while exploring nature.

All doggos are welcome to stay at this campground as long as they are kept on a 6-foot leash throughout their visit. While most trails allow pooches, be aware of any posted signs stating otherwise so you can enjoy the facility without breaking rules. Be a good pet parent while you're here and always clean up after your furry friend (and bring bags to do so!).

If you're looking to sleep in a forest steeped in history, head to Great Seal State Park for your next trip!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
