Horsetooth Reservoir
Horsetooth Reservoir, found in Fort Collins, Colorado, offers visitors the option of over 100 waterfront sites to choose from, all of which are dog-friendly.
Dogs are permitted at the reservoir with the only rules for bringing your pooch being that you must keep them on a leash that is ten feet in length or shorter at all times, tidy up any mess they make, and keep them from the swimming beach. If you're looking to just visit the reservoir with your pooch for the day, you can purchase a day pass for $7 per vehicle.
Permits are required for each night of camping, with a maximum of 14 consecutive nights at the reservoir. There are two separate bays at this campground, Inlet Bay and South Bay. Inlet Bay is only open April to October, and South Bay is open year-round. There are also sites that are boat-in only that are open from May until September, giving you the opportunity to be truly secluded in nature. All campsites are located right on the Horsetooth Reservoir, making it convenient and easy to access. Depending on when you camp, the prices will vary, with off-season pricing being more economically efficient at only $15 for a site with no hookups.
At both bays, you will find RV camping, tent camping and cabin rentals available. Limited full hookup RV sites are offered, so book early if these are amenities you need. There are over 100 standard electric sites, and 15 boat-in sites available. The standard electric sites are perfect for tents, pop-up campers or RVs.
The reservoir will be the highlight of your vacation, as it offers guests a multitude of opportunities. You can hit the waves in a boat, as there's both a launch and ramp available for your use. If you're looking for some adrenaline, scuba diving, water skiing, and windsurfing are all guest favorites. Rock climbing is also available right along the reservoir and, of course, so is swimming.
