Description

Mayberry campground presents a stylish layout of manicured gravel roads, fishing ponds, and established trees lining the perimeter.

This is a classy set-up with plenty of space for RVs to pull right in and get hooked up to electric (30 and 50 amp), water, and sewer. There are 106 sites for RVs and tents with clean restrooms, showers, a laundry, and connection to the Internet and cable TV. Picnic tables and fire-rings can be requested if they are not at your site, while the kids find fun in the two camp playgrounds. There are also covered picnic tables with a kitchen featured in one of them. Grounds are constantly maintained with friendly, private owners, always happy to help.

Big rigs are welcome as are dogs (that must be leashed and supervised by their owners.) Any woofer waste has to be picked up and disposed of in a trash can. It’s also expected that dogs be well behaved. Most of the camp has very little natural shade to keep your pooch protected from the summer sun. If they are outside the tent or RV in high temperatures, keep them under an umbrella or in a doggy shade-tent.

Mayberry campground is situated on the former farm of the infamous Siamese twins named Chang and Eng Bunker. The beautiful, white farmhouse built by one of their sons in 1900 still stands as a reminder and it’s interesting to note the current owner of the camp is a great-great-grandson of Eng Bunker.

History keeps on rolling into the city of Mount Airy, the birthplace of Andy Griffith, who lit up TV screens in the 1960s with his revered Sherriff character in the endearing town of Mayberry. Childhood memories of settling down in front of the television to watch the latest episode may be relived with a tour in a vintage police car highlighting Floyds Barbershop, Barney’s Cafe and the Mayberry courthouse. Mount Airy takes the fans of this iconic American comedy on a nostalgic journey starting at the Mayberry campgrounds where vacation fun begins.

The camp is generally a quiet ambiance with some noise you might notice at night from the busy highway. It's pet-friendly with classic Southern hospitality, full hook-ups, and a super-tidy setting. You'll even find Walmart about 10 minutes up the road.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
