Noccalula Falls Campground

Noccalula Falls Campground is located within Noccalula park near Gadsden, Alabama, and offers a lot of diverse activities to choose from. It’s very kid and family-friendly with attractions for young and old.

The main attraction, the waterfall located in the middle of the park, was originally known as the Black Creek falls, the name Noccalula was given after a folk tale about Noccalula, a fabled young daughter of an Indian chief. The 90-foot drop natural waterfall cascades into the Black Creek gorge and depends on the rainfall to keep it running, so during the summer, it might be just a small trickle.   

The campground is right next to the waterfall and offers 126 sites, half of which can be reserved. The park also has a petting zoo, so children will definitely have fun things to do. There’s a deer park nearby, and train rides on the C.P. Huntington train are offered to park visitors too. The train takes you on a scenic ride through the park.

This is a full hookup campground and also offers 70 sites that can easily host maximum length RVs, so those with big rigs will have no problem finding a good spot. There are plenty of shaded areas, and there’s Wi-Fi available at every site. There are 10 sites that are reserved for tents and 2 cabin rentals.

Noccalula Falls Campground is a pet-friendly location as long as you keep your dog leashed and under surveillance. Also, keep in mind that while the campground does allow dogs, "dangerous" breeds are not allowed on the campground at all. Also, not all of the park’s sections are dog-friendly. For instance, it’s not advisable to bring a dog to the petting zoo to avoid causing stress to the animals there. The basic rules when bringing your dog are rather universal – keep them leashed, be mindful of other campers, make sure your dog behaves, and clean up after them.
