Description

Encompassing 560 acres on the shores of Eel Lake, William M. Tugman is well worth a closer look for anyone planning a pet-friendly camping vacation in Oregon. Located less than 10 miles south of Reedsport, this little-known park offers plenty of recreational opportunities and acts as a gateway to Oregon's beautiful south coast.

Set against a backdrop of grassy lawns and mature pine trees, this scenic park is paw-fect for anyone who enjoys water sports. The cool waters of Eel Lake make it a popular spot to cool off in the summer months, and they also offer excellent fishing, canoeing, sailing, and boating. Anglers can target largemouth bass, crappie, rainbow trout, and more. A boat ramp and fully accessible fishing dock are provided.

If you want to explore on foot, a trail leads you around the southern end of the lake, where you can investigate the lake's many secluded inlets. From deer to eagles, you might catch a glimpse of any number of wildlife species as you make your way through the park's dense forest.

Open year-round, the William M. Tugman State Park campground features 93 electrical sites with water, as well as 16 yurts (eight of these yurts are pet-friendly) and hiker/biker camping. The cost of an overnight stay varies depending on the type of accommodation you select, with electrical sites priced at $26 a night and pet-friendly yurts at $56 a night.

Remember that if you're camping with your pet, dogs must be leashed (on a leash of six feet or shorter) when not confined to a tent or vehicle. You're also responsible for cleaning up and disposing of your pet's waste.

William M. Tugman State Park is quite close to Highway 101, but its peaceful location means the rest of the world can feel miles away. So if you want to get back to nature with your canine pal in tow, why not book a campsite or yurt for a night or two?

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
