Description

Looking for a Fido-friendly place to stay during your Floridian forest adventure? Then you’d be barking mad not to check out Wright Lake Campground! Located in the Sunshine State’s stunning Apalachicola National Forest, a stay here may require sacrificing a few of your creature comforts. While showers and flush toilets are available, only one site has access to electricity and water hookups. It’s best to get there early if you’d prefer a little luxury, or if you’ll need to stay at one of Wright Lake’s accessible sites -- all sites are first-come, first-served. There’s a $3 entrance fee to the recreation area, and sites start at $20 (or $30 for the electric site).

The location certainly isn’t bad to look at, though! Sites are shaded by mature red pines, and keen anglers will be glad to know that the campground has lake access. You can cook your catch on one of the grills provided with each site. However, there’s little underbrush to provide privacy between sites, so be prepared to get to know your neighbors!

You and your buddy are sure to sniff out something to do during your stay! If casting a line isn’t exactly your idea of a good time, you might want to check out the area’s hiking trails. The Wright Lake Loop Trail starts just outside of camp and wanders past some of the most unique flora and fauna that the forest has to offer. On your five-mile walk, you can expect to spot wildflowers and pitcher plants, as well as some lovely creekside views. The cable bridge over the creek requires a bit of balance though, so watch your step! You're also just a short drive away from Florida's peaceful, mostly undeveloped Forgotten Coast.

WiFi isn’t available at Wright Lake, and cellular coverage is spotty at best. If you need to stay in constant contact, this isn’t the camping choice for you. Otherwise, enjoy your digital detox! Fires are permitted, and you’ll find drinking water available on-site. Remember to bring waste bags for your pupper, and have a furrific time!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
