Ballentine Bark Park

Is your pup itching to ditch the leash? Then take them to the Ballentine Bark Park for an unfettered romp! Nestled in the quiet neighborhood of Ballentine, this dog park is a furrific location for letting your pooch blow off steam. It's also a great place for them to mingle with other canines!

You and Fido will find this doggie playground on Tait Terrace, which offers plenty of street parking. Once you hop out of the car, you'll see a fully fenced facility with lots of room for off-leash play and exercise. You'll also notice several memorial plaques hanging on the chain-link fence—these were purchased by residents to honor their dogs that had passed, and the proceeds were then used to help build the park.

The Ballentine Bark Park was the first dog park in Norfolk to have separate sections for large and small dogs, so rest easy as your four-legged pal sprints and sniffs alongside canines their own size. In case you and Fido arrive at an empty park, you can grab a toy or two from the toy bin to keep your pup entertained. Running water and bowls are also available for your dog's comfort, and you'll find several spots to sit and relax with multiple benches scattered around the site. On hot days, the trees in the park create shady spots for your pooch to cool off in.

As always, clean up after your furry charge if they go to the bathroom. Forgot to bring doggie waste bags? Simply reach for the mailbox by the entrance, which holds several bags donated by volunteers. Make sure your pup has their rabies and city license tags before bringing them to the park.
